I'd rather see a Breton that doesn't look like an Imperial. Should be interesting. I wonder if they'll be all creepy and skinny like in their Oblivion concept art?

Ooh, I hope so. With slightly pointed ears.

I don't agree that it's favoritism. They have a vested interest in all races and both genders, since they have a vested interest in this game doing well.

yeah..........cause im sure that a khajit or bosmer in the trailer would have just looked as good as "trailer guy"

my offer to bethesda still stands. ill give them $20 if they remake the trailer with an argonian or khajit in it just so that i can laugh hysterically at how stupid it would look.

The thing with the Beat races in Oblivion is that all NPC's were forced to use the same sort of body meshes. This is why the Argonian women received sizable tracts of land, why beast characters are no longer exempt from nudity laws, and how they lost their digitigrade stature. Considering Bethesda is looking into racial uniqueness this time around, I'd like to assume that this means each race gets its own body mesh, which will hopefully lead the races to becoming truer to their Morrowind versions to an extent (though I do prefer Oblivion's best races and their ability to wear shoes. In the cases of beast races, they should at least see the return of their underwear-less Morrowind status, as they have nothing to hide.

Keep Dovahkiin as a male Nord in the press releases. Seeing a new 'Dovahkiin' in every scene would get a tad confusing.

I've been posting that I'd like to see the female armor. No luck on that yet. Come on, devs....give us women Dovahkiin a look in some of the revealed screenshots. You can do this the next time a woman plays Skyrim at Bethesda or if one of you manly men play as a woman. Just download Fraps if you need it, snap, snap, snap a few shots and the Bethguys can tweet us the links in future tweets. They tweet ALLL the time. :D

I want you to take a second and look over all of the screenshots you have seen of our main character. Done? What did you notice? I'll tell you what I noticed:

They are all male Nords. I realize that Nords are this games focus, as Dunmer were for Morrowind and Imperials were for Oblivion, but really? You can't even add a screenshot of a female Dovahkiin?

I'd like to see pics of the dovahkiin as various races and genders, agreed?

It's coming. Be patient.

The male Nord is the icon of Skyrim, just as the Imperial Guard was of Oblivion and the Dunmer in Bonemold armor was for Morrowind. The demographics don't lie, mostly men play TES and they mostly play as male characters. Skyrim is the land of the Nords. It just makes sense to show the protagonist being a male Nord. It's certainly not the character I'll be playing as, but oh well.

Confusing? I fail to see how that would be confusing. You must work in a marketing department.

It's mainly for promotional reasons. Skyrim is the home of the nords why wouldn't you promote a Male Nord now I wished they also Promoted a Female Nord but maybe we'll find out more about that later at E3.

Not to mention it's canon.
No it's not. Bethesda deliberately makes the identity and accomplishments of each hero vague and completely unknown, and effectively writes out the hero of the previous game. The most canon you'll get is that every hero is different, but even then that's not entirely true.

Anyway, on the topic on hand, a big, burly nord male is going to make more...sense for Skyrim, for a lack of a better word. Symbolic maybe? Anyway, having any other race really won't. When people think Skyrim and nords, a large majority of people will think Conan the Barbarian and vikings.

Bethesda did the same thing with their "Imperial Knight" promotional hero for Oblivion... It's not like this will effect gameplay in any way, so I don't see the problem. They need an avatar for marketing purposes.

It's a male nord in every single shot because that's the only character you get to play as.
