Returned to Megaton with my followers Dogmeat and Fawkes, when the latter starts shooting everyone in sight. Even the priest that hangs near the bomb. Mind you we have always had top level karma so I had to reload to last save. Was wondering why this happened, just another glitch?

Probably. Weird things just happen sometimes. Ever encountered the Behemoth sized Mirelurk? No? Glitch. There are lots of funny and weird glitches that occur. For example I've encountered the Rad Roach King, who was a woman, outside of Old Olney trying to kill Deathclaws. (I had just killed 'it' half an hour before.)

Fawkes glitches for me every time I've tried him. Goes off, kills Charon, goes after me sometimes. Screw him, that's why I never hire him.

From my experience it just might also have been someone else in town who first got aggressive on Fawkes from afar, then everyone else aggroed also cause they go on their townmates side.
The first time I took Fawkes to Megaton I suddenly heard shooting (Fawkes was still peacefull) and tought for a second that there was a raider in town when I saw the shooter on a railing, who was actually Jericho, aiming for Fawkes! Only after Fawkes shot back at Jericho all the townspeople started to attack him too. Needless to say the whole town died by Fawkes...:gun:
I reloaded cause I did not want to live in a ghosttown and it would have been too heartbreaking to hear " "It`s amazing how people trust you enough not to attack me..." ever again...
Ok, on reload... Everything was peachy on the townsquare, then we went to Moriarty′s. Fawkes was making friends and telling them how "a calm heart will prevail" when Jericho stepped in. I saved immediately....Jericho first went to talk to Nova, then said something nasty to me and walked behind Fawkes, shot Fawkes in the back! Massacre ensued again after I got Fawkes out but some people from the saloon followed and everyone who was outside joined in.

After one more reload Jericho attacked again, Fawkes promptly killed him but I got Fawkes out of the bar alone before fighting anyone else. After that (knocks on wood) I have not had any violence in Megaton. I did not get any bad karma from Fawkes killing Jericho by the way...
In another occasion definetely not started by Fawkes one of the project purity scientist in Rotunda suddenly hit him with a leadpipe! :laugh:
Also I heard Sonora Cruz might might attack him so I leave him outside when I go to see her.

Fawkes did the same thing when I took him to Underworld. Try firing him in the room BEFORE Underworld proper. For Megaton, just make him wait outside.

I just kill that green bastard on every playthrough.

I am sorry i am still laughing about Fawkes going postal in town. That is kind of sad there is that much trouble with him, although i have to say i am really hard on followers, they do not live long if they follow me around out in the wilderness. I have the Animated prostitution mod from Nexus so i get a few extra companions to use, plus with a high enough speech check i could probably get Jethro to follow me around in the wilderness for about 30 minutes before i get him killed as well lol. This might prevent the problem when i get Fawkes by gettin Jethro killed before i bring Fawkes to town, as a matter of fact when i get home from work this AM i will try this. Charon is dead, the 2 additional companions from the AP mod are dead, Nova almost died, I did manage to set essential Silver the one time i took her out in the woods but she spent more time dead than alive so i returned her to Megaton removed the essential and she just hangs in the house now.

I guess the rule is do not follow the Regulator into the woods as you may not come back lol.

I took him to Regulator HQ and he was fine. Standing there. Twiddling his thumbs. Waiting to get back outside.
Everyone else was hysterical! Cruz disappeared, I never saw her again. She just ran. All the others were running around like the bombs were falling again. No one shot him though, so we were stood in the middle of this CHAOS like 'lol wut'.

Yeah, it seems he isn't the most appreciated person. I had to go searching to find Sonora, and finally gave up on Fawkes after having my ears blasted out by an infinitely looping gatling laser audio error. I just couldn't take him anywhere...

I didn't had any problems with Fawkes.
If we help him, he brings death outside of Ravenrock...pretty epic.

This. V.A.T.S. makes his gatling laser sound like 20 hands scratching a board. I couldn't take him anymore.
