FCOM confusion and questions

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2009 3:32 am

I highly appreciate all the hard work the FCOM team, especially CorePC, has done and I also understand the FCOM homepage could be out of date but I have a lot of confusion I would appreciate some clearing up. This is not a thread for asking to troubleshoot FCOM related crashes, can't install, etc.

[OMOBS]

1. Are all the items in FCOM supposed to be OMOBS balanced?
In the http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/convergence.html a ctrl + f "OMOBS' reveals FCOM "rebalances the items for OMOBS compliance".
If this is true and FCOM is supposed to be OMOBS balanced, shouldn't it say it require the the MOBS version of Francesco's mod be installed? CorePC's updated MOBS/OMOBS advises to install the MOBS version of Francesco's "to get mobs stats for all frans weapons" but doesn't this add the some times unwanted optional MOBS features (like slower backwards running)? Why doesn't FCOM include the OMOBS rebalance for vanilla items when it does for the new items it adds?

2. Are any of the Unofficial Fran patches really necessary? Such as "USIP_MOBS": doesn't CorePC's new updated MOBS/OMOBS fix succeed that?

[MMM - 37b3p3]

1. Does MMM's combat tweak succeed Fran's merged Lyrondor Combat?

2. Since MMM now has leveled guards, installing Fran's leveled guards is unnecessary?

[OOO]

1. Is it balanced for container traps to do a 100~ dmg hit to a level 1-5? Is there a way to disable or configure this?

Best if you post your question in the current http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1075069 thread, where you will receive knowledgeable answers.

I would say NO.
If you are using OMOBS, install the normal UOP and USIO versions, not the OMOBS version.
As I have read and understood, OMOBS is slightly different, and uses different values.

I just use 'import stats' of the bashed patch on both omobs (not including the additional combat settings) and deactivate them afterwards.

Frans patches certainly are a requirement if the intention is using Frans at all in your FCOM setup.
What would make you think Marts Monster Mod tweaks would overwrite ones for OOO, WarCry or Francesco's?
Unless clearly stated otherwise in the readme MMM plug-ins effect only MMM creatures and npc's.

I've preached numerous times the place to post FCOM questions is in the official thread if you want accurate answers to your questions.
Independent threads tend to lead to well intentioned, but often erroneous and confusing information.

No, it's not balanced, and there's no way to turn it off. :(

I asked late last year - apparently all the chests have scripts manually attached for traps so there's no easy way to disable them.

What is worse is that the chests are randomized, so even if you do manage to survive the bulk of the time you get ... junk. :ooo:

You can dodge or block a lot of the damage, and there are other ways to open chests that are safer as well.

Some thought works wonders in OOO.
Using unlock spells means traps don't blow up in your face. :shifty: :hubbahubba:

I ended up doing that, but playing as a thief who didn't pick Alteration as a major forced me to do some serious power leveling to get my skill high enough. :P

[censored]..I mean sorry, of course you have to replace the UOP, USIP and the UOMP version with those MOBS versions from TesNexus at Frans compatibility patch (all OMOBS users), Its exactly three zip packages. if you dont replace these esps you'll for example notice a very slow backward running speed.
sorry for giving the wrong advise in the post above.

Corepc created standalone MOBS files. You can use import stats on them without activating them in order to get MOBS stats while using the newest regular UOP releases.

No slow backwards running or other effects necessary. Those are in a separate file anyway, I believe.

And once again question could be asked in FCOM thread or OOO thread or even MOBS thread

You should not install Francesco Mobs has it old and oudated if you are using

1) UOP 3.2.x or HotFix 3.2.4, use standalone mobs instead with Frans.

or

2) If you using OOO/FCOM. Has OMOBS from OOO will cover all Vanilla Weapons Stats that mobs would have done. use OMOBS standalone to get UOP 3.2.X fixes.

or

3) If you want to use OMOBS standalone instead for vanilla weapons changes..to overwrite say tie for example..

I updated the MOBS thread with this information I did it the other day before the forum went down and was changed

Showler@ I did place running backwards in optionial file, so that weapons stats could be fully imported with bash. There is also a no running backwards edition has well..
