FCOM, crash on start/new game

the very last load order i posted is valid, i am currently rebuilding the patch so cant copy it, when its done, if my new config dosent work, i will go over the fcom thread again and try rebulding the patch

so far ive un installed everything, downloaded all the mods fromt he fcom thread and reinstalled everything using obmm and bain.


ooookkaaay so, removed and updated everything you all recommended, before you ask yes i downloaded everything from the official thread, so if its out of date then its not my fault this time =P. the crashes have become worse, on game start now. im about ready to call it quits and go become a hermit up in the mountains somewhere


Load order looks good except:

20 FCOM_WarCry.esp [Version 0.9.9MB3] - Update to 1.09.

It crashes on startup? Try deleting Oblivion.ini in My Documents/My Games/Oblivion and let the game generate a new one on startup.

EDIT: Also, yeah, FCOM_Knights.esp should turn up in the load order even as merged (much as ++ FCOM_DiverseGuardUnity.esp etc.) so that's weird (if I understood you correctly above).

you did and it is indeed odd, as it is showing as merged in bash, however i updated warcry and checked knights, rebuilding patch and will let you know what happens

are you sure the bsa getting loaded correctly and they are installed correctly

Frans bsa installed and either added to ini or renamed correctly

And MMM.bsa renamed to FCOM_Convergence_Mart's Monster Mod.bsa

What about UI mods did you reinstall those since you deleted your oblivion.ini

Patched to 1.2.0416 Version

Using Windows 7 did you install game outside programs files directory ?

Does OOO/MMM/FCOM (esm, esp only) startup without any other mods activated and bashed patched ?

Logged in has Admin account correct?

So what about just OOO byitself

MMM byitself (MMM.esm,MMM.esp instead) remove fcom from bsa name..

Is Vanilla still working if not

then delete your ini, reinstall any ui mod and re add any bsa if adding them to ini..

Going to still advise installing out program files directory even if UAC is turned off..

Are you sure you have permission to the files . Because under windows 7 64, I have an issue with OBMM locking files which prevent me from using them. Even with UAC turned off this still happen's and Running OBMM has Admin ..Had to resort to bain install to get around the issue for everything..

ive got full permissions, vanilla works fine, will try ooo and mm, if they work im just going to nuke the site from orbit and try again tomorrow as im too drunk to reliably do everythign right at this pont

So the problem is the bashed patch. Easy to solve as this is how I solved mine:

Start with a clean bashed patch file. Rebuild by adding one option category at a time (like import cells, import stats, etc) and starting the game, repeating the process until a category crashes it, then you start deselecting mods in that category. Time consumning if it takes 6 minutes to build the patch but this is the surest option.

ok no matter what configuration the bashed patch is in it still crashes on new game, ive gotten it to actually start the game by messing with the merge option

My 2 cents worth....

Just firing up Oblivion after a year away and my 100% Stable FCOM Build would NOT load...Crash on load of any save i had...(over 800 different Saves). I tried a ton of things, Name it i tried it couldn't even start a new game....in the end it was MY sound card drivers!!!

My 200 + Load order is Listed on Tom longs Site , TesVPositive. That took me about 6 months to Build, ONE mod at a time and test. So i really didn't want to Start over...lol


Try Disable Sound card in Device manager and see if you can Start a new game. This rules out the Problem I just had . that took about 12 hours to figure out.....

Guess I a lot less then that for saves..An ESS , Pluggy, OBSE file for many of the Saves....lol
