Fcom. Help

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:20 pm

Hi all I just got. A new computer that is finally able to play oblivion ( been waiting for 4 year). What other mrs are worth using with it?

So far all my plans are a body/ armor replacer. And with FCOM I'm trying to add all the mods that add extra weapons and armor as possible. All the extra creatures as possible

Other things I'm thinking of adding are cobl, tamriel travelers, Loths blunt weapons, I'm also thinking of adding more random items but I'm a little confused as what it does (ok I know it adds more items but what does "increases the max level difference for random items, loot, and NPC gear" mean in lamens terms? Also does fcom archery make archery better? Was archery bad without it? ( 1st char is a assassin/archer so this seems relevant).

What other mods do you all recommend for FCOM?

Thanks for all the info. Sorry if the post was long and rambling

Also do you use Bain or obmm? Or maybe both? Any recommendations to make this easier would be greatly appreciated

Use Item interchange, which is included with COBL. It makes those items added by mods appear more frequently.
Use OMOBS instead of fcom archery.

Look through Blade of Mercy's guide - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090232-50-steps-to-stable-fcom/page__view__findpost__p__15898251__fromsearch__1

Can't say much about archery as my chars never use bows, but if you use FCOM_Archery damage from bows will be upped considerably. You'll also have access to lot of cool bows/arrows. If you want archery modded more specifically you must use separate mods for this - but I'm not much help there.

If you use a complete FCOM set up with Armamentarium added, you'll have access to an almost ridiculous amount of items.

Haven't used FCOM_MoreRandomItems, but it basically makes it so that the transition from one bunch of leveledlists to another on level up are less obvious. That is, when hitting, say, Lvl 10, you suddenly have access to better loot from new leveledlists. With FCOM_MoreRandomItems this is more random, which makes it less obvious.

I'd recommend using BAIN as the primary tool for installing/uninstalling mods. It is superior to OBMM when it comes to handling conflicts as everything is transparent, i.e. you can see exactly which files in a mod that conflicts with another mod etc. Nothing wrong with OBMM, though.

If you are new to FCOM, get basic FCOM working before adding mods to it.

Edit: wording

Edit: The guide I linked is not for new users.
