When testing - when I shoot like a mud crab or anyone - they turn green
Why is that?

I couldn't tell ya. Are you shooting them with enchanted arrows?

Looks like it's time to take the next step into FCOM 0.9.9 and add-ons now.

I don't have any enchanted items - not yet
Just a sword and bow/arrows (iron)

I'm fairly certain that you have been directed to use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516 before.

Run it after each addition. There is no need to ask is this the right load order. BOSS already takes into account all of FCOM and much much more. Each placement it makes has been hand edited by those people who are very much involved with this. It is just like they have personally taken time out of their busy schedule to help you sort your load order each time you run it. Further the master list has been combed over many times and already is the most optimal load order there is - only special conditions really necessitate using another order.

I can understand asking for advice on install order, and I know that FCOM lacks in documentation. This thread though seems to take hand holding to absurdest heights.

You have that, but you seem to have it merged into your bashed patch. Rebuild your patch and unmerge it.

Yes, this "hand holding" is very long
But that was warned at the start - but it has taught me things too.

Also, I am doing a complete walkthrough for everything I have done - what should be done and how it should be done -
For ANYONE that would like to use it - and hopefully it is well documented

That's the reason behind this -

And yes, to ensure I didn't goof some where along the way

Just happened to notice that you have DLC_MOBS.esp as well as Lair_mobs.esp, Mehrunes_mobs.esp, Thievesden_mobs.esp, Battlehorn_mobs.esp

As others have mentioned... It really really pays to read the BOSS log comments. Will save you a ton of back tracking. I as well am building a new load order, so your thread has helped guide a few of my mistakes. I take 6 month breaks from this game, and every time i come back, everything is different, but in a good way :) Hang in there dude, you'll get it right :P

DLC_MOBS.esp

* Note: Don't use Battlehorn_mobs.esp, Lair_mobs.esp, Mehrunes_mobs.esp, or Thievesden_mobs.esp if using this as this includes all those.


Other than that.. these are the only two that stand out...

++ Item interchange - Placement.esp [Version 0.76]
++ Item interchange - Placement for FCOM.esp [Version 0.76]


You only need Item interchange - Placement for FCOM.esp. But this wasn't your fault. The install order calls for FCOM or UFCOM to be installed after COBL. So, COBL wouldn't of known to use only the Item interchange - Placement for FCOM.esp because FCOM was installed yet. Again, not your fault. I imagine this sort of mixup will be re-scripted at some point. Before I pack my COBL to an OMOD, I just delete Item interchange - Placement.esp . The OMOD script complains during install, but it doesn't break anything. You could just disable it to make things easy. Just don't forget to skip over it when building your bashed patch.

Also remove Item interchange - Placement for Frostcrag Spire Revisited.esp, as you're not using Frostcrag Spire Revisited.

Regarding the MOBS, I was waiting until this point to address that. Now with FCOM installed, switch out MOBS for http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28537. Remove everything that says MOBS in it like far327 listed above.

Uhh right ... well except that by not using BOSS you are not setting any kind of example because if you were using it - it would have answered half your questions.

There are multiple "help me FCOM is hard" threads per month ... week to reference. These will not make up for the lack of centralized documentation and consistent installer availability that plague FCOM. And no not really that well documented.

Look your thread do as you like, but there is a tool in place that will help you and you would not have to wait for replies. it is called BOSS.

Optimally we all use THE load order as is found in the masterlist of BOSS and this main central load order will cover just about all cases (there are always exceptions).

BOSS very much did get its start in pages like http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/fcomloadorder.html and http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/fcomloadorderexpanded.html, but is now able to handle all that and very much more. Not using it and going back to ... is this OK ... is this OK - is ignoring the countless hours already put into the greater project known as the THE load order: the BOSS masterlist.

Using that and at least reading the install section of most readmes will go a long way toward clarifying what to install if not how or why.

However, I've found that the most up-to-date info is offered here in the forums and not in a readme. Kinda like the newspaper vs. the internet. I apologize if it's frustrating to you and some of the other veterans here.

There's nothing "veteran" about it, just to clarify there.

Modders go the effort of writing readme files for their mods, and packaging those with the mods in question, not on a whim, or because they think it's in some vague way a good idea.

They're there so that people know what to do, and what not to do. *IF* people actually read them. Which is, obviously, the idea.

It's not hard. It doesn't take long. I would say, most of the time, a great deal less time than it would take to post questions/complaints/whatever here...

The rather well known "RTFM" has never been more appropriate than of late, it would seem.

But, it would also seem, there are those who wish to hold others' hands, and therefore participate in them learning less than they should - that is, by reading, doing, failing occasionally (oh, the horror!) and asking questions *only* when available sources of information have at least seemed to fail them.

Even so. I'm not about to try to stop them. To each his or her own. :shrug:

I'm just going to say this: And this time be blunt about it.
I do use Boss - after EVERY step - that is something I have made clear from the beginning.
I post my load order here in case I miss something - and this has taught me a great deal
I'm not looking to waste anyone's time - all the help everyone gives here is great appriciated and trust me - I deal with customers all day long and know how tiring it can get to hold their hand through every little step - which to me should be as plain as the nose on their face (you know like hit NEXT to install) but this a LOT different from installing a simple program)

I would leave it unchecked, period. And make sure any merge/import options for it in your bashed patch are also unchecked.

Follow the instructions in the FCOM-Convergence and UFCOM thread on what to activate and merge in the Bashed Patch.

The only ones I would advise using are the UOP Vampire Aging and Face Fix under Tweak Settings, and anything in Race Records.

I don't use COBL so can't comment on those settings. Hopefully someone else can advise.

Anything else under a "Tweak" category are personal choices, so it's up to you if you think you want to use anything there. :)

Here is so confusing about this Bash Patch
I Mod Checker and this is what I get and I am confused about:

NoMerg Tagged Mods
Following mods are tagged NoMerge and should be deactivate and imported inot the bashed patch but are currently active
BattleHorn_mobs.esp
Cobl Races TNR SI.esp
Cobl Races TNR.esp
FCOM_Archery.esp
Lair_mobs.esp
Roberts Armamentium female.esp
Thievesden_mobs.esp

But, in one of the post it was saying don't merge the Battlehonr_mobs.esp, Lair_mobs.esp, Thievesden_mobs.esp were not suppose to be merged. This is where the confusion comes in.
