FCOM - Land Tearing

Keep UAC on just install Oblivion in a non-default location (like C;\Games) that should insure that it never hassles you. Installing he game in Program Files not recommended with Vista/Win7.

Turning it off (and advertising it is off) is not a good idea.

I have it off as I use other software that doesn't like it being on (I work for a software company as a support tech and we have our customer's turn it off)
I know there is sometimes heated debate about it - but as a tech I hate it with a passion - but understand its need -

Install both discs of Oblivion first-This will ensure you have KOTN,SI and the 1.20416 version of Oblivion. I would install Oblivion into C:Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion instead of C:Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion and turn UAC back on.I would then install OBMM, Wrye Bash and then install your DLC's you do have. Install the UOP's and USIP and make sure you install the correct esps for an FCOM installation.

Here are my DLC list:
Fighers strong hold
Knighs of the nine_en
Mehrunes razor
Orrery
Spell Tomes
Thieves Den
Vile Lair
Wizards Tower

Here are the UOP's and USIP
Mobsified DLC-19203
Oblivion v1.2.0.416 English
Shivering Isles_v1.2.0.416 English
Unofficial Official Mods Patch v15 Installer Version 9969
Unofficial Patch Patch Supplementals - 27710
Unofficial Oblivion Patch 3.2.0 Installer
Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch v140 installer
UOP Supplemental v33-27710

Do I need all these or can I get rid of any of them - or is there an order I should install these?

By the way - the computer Oblivion is on is NOT on the internet / nor a network - so no one can "hack" into it

The Unnoficial Official Mods Patch is available as an OMOD from TESNexus and should install all of the patches automatically for the DLC's you have installed. The UOP is for just Oblivion and the USIP is for Shivering Isles. They are all available as OMOD's. The esp's for an FCOM installation are available from TESNexus as separate downloads and are necessary for MOBS to work in Oblivion and SI. When you have them installed start on reinstalling FCOM. For Cobl to work you will need Cobl Glue.esp,Cobl SI.esp,OOO 1.32-Cobl.esp,FCOM-Cobl.esp,Item interchange-placement for FCOM.esp, and Cobl Filter late-MERGE ONLY.esp along with Cobl Main.esm.

You do not need the SI or Oblivion 1.20416 patches at all. I would delete those two just to keep from accidentally installing them. Just make sure the versions you install of the Unofficial patches are current. Make sure you install the MOBS esp's for the UOP and USIP. I downloded the individually myself.

I saw your LO and figured you might not know the esp's from Cobl you do need for FCOM. You also have a large number of cosmetic and race mods that are redundant and take up space from the 255 active mod limit.

That's why I'm doing a new install and only installing what will work - with a few mods I would like
But I think I have so many mods that it is making things goofy

That's why I want a new - uncorrupted - install
So starting with the basics and working my way - right now I only have Oblivion and Shivering Isles installed
I have just installed the DLC

Now the next step - which is what do I install after that - do I do the OBMM and Wyre Bash now?

Okay, so I have deleted the SI / Oblivion 1.20416 - those are gone
I know the Game of the year which is already updated to the version it needs to be

Now what confuses me is the MOBS - where are these at?
Okay, sounding stupid and I have read some about MOBS - but not sure where to find them or how to get them installed.

I usually install OBMM and use OBMM to install all of the Unnofficial Oblivion Patches and then Wrye Bash.I then install the most current stable version of OBSE and the plugins for it that I know I will need, then I install mods. EDIT 7:36 MOBS is the system used to relevel weapons and armor for FCOM. You should choose one male body replacer and one female body replacer. HGEC and Roberts female bodies are both FCOM compatible-clothing and armor replacers already exist for both of these bodies. Try and use one cosmetic and race compilation. I personally use RBP (Race Balancing Project), but I first chose Cobl Races for the extra hairstyles and eye selections.Cobl TNR applies Cobl cosmetics changes to Npc's for more variety in the game.

I will the MOBS as I get to where I need to - not sure what MOBS (and where to get them) would best - so that's why I'm here - to get this straight (and with much thanks)

Body replacers I will list after I get FCOM installed

Use BOSS to sort and check your load order. I think the MOBS esp's are specifically for the stand-alone mod MOBS, and not the version integrated into FCOM, but you should check the FCOM website to be sure. I might be wrong.

Ok remove these 2:
02 UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp [Version 1.0.0]
03 Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp

They are not needed, I mentioned this earlier. For the Vampire Aging Fix there is a tweak in wrye bash instead when building the bashed patch and the citadel fix is simply not needed.
Unofficial Oblivion Patch says 3.3, it should say 3.3.3 if at latest version so make sure to check that you have downloaded the latest http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710. (Actually there's even a 3.3.4 available from the UOP Supplemental Thread here, but it's only the esp so you need to install it after 3.3.3: http://www.4shared.com/file/ONgM9BR4/Unofficial_Oblivion_Patch.html). Also the unofficial Orrery and Knights patches is outdated, so just make sure to download that and it should be fine.

I install them in this order:
SI 1.20416 Patch
DLCs
UOP 3.2.0
UOMP 1.5
UOP Supplementals 3.3.3
UOP Supplemental 3.3.4 esp
USIP 1.40 (make sure to get the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17621 file for FCOM etc, I don't use it personally since I play WAC).

Also, there is a 1.65 of BOSS: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516

Not quite. FCOM uses OMOBS rather than MOBS. That is, OOO uses OMOBS and so does the FCOM plugins - Fran's uses MOBS. Also, MOBS/OMOBS only affect weapons. See http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1152645-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/ for guide/links.

Here is the next step - installing Francesco mods:
The mods I have are:

Enhanced Economy 5.0.02 25078.rar
FranArmorAddonV2-11483.rar
Francesco's Optional Leveled Questt-SI Only.esp
Francesco's_leveled_creatures_items_mod_4.5b-2518.exe
FranDarkSeducerWeaponsPatch.rar
Optimized_creature_Pack-34830.7z
Optimized_Items_pack-34830.7z

Do I need all of these?
Do I not need some of them
Am I out of my mind? (Yes, I am - that's why I am doing this)

I've never used Frans so can't help with that part. However, just wanted to post quickly to point out that you can remove the file ? 10 DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch - SSSB.esp [Version 1.0.4]
The changes it made are now in ? 0F DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch.esp [Version 1.0.5] anyway, so no point to keep it there. Hopefully someone else can help you with the Frans stuff.

Richard, just dive in on some of this stuff.

Earlier I wanted to post that you should check out Tomlong's TES4:POSItive, but in searching for its link I saw that you already know about it.

You've already been clued in on Enhanced Economy over Living and know about the optimized BSA files.

Only the core Frans files described as necessary for FCOM are necessary. You don't have to use the unofficial add ons even though there are FCOM patches for them.

Basically what makes installing/uninstalling/reinstalling a pain is method of install. Even though you are new BAIN is the best way to go ... http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1084204-bain-mod-installation-projects/. Tomlong's TES4POSItive has one too. Team FCOM does not advocate it for some reason unknown to most, but it will change the focus away from worrying about if you messed the data folder up to having packages that allow you to shift the install order on and that shows you what is installed - unlike OBMM.

If you have Oblivion installed in a good location and then take up BAIN you could install/reinstall to your hearts content and never have to start over from scratch again. It shifts the focus to learning how to recognize good mod packaging and learning how to package mods - but even if you make a boo boo it is easy to uninstall anything and not mess up what is still installed.
