FCOM - Land Tearing

I don't know why this didn't post the first time – but here it is again
I am getting land tearing using FCOM
The land tearing is near Vahtacen (which is located south-southeast of Cheydinhal)
When walking I see MASSIVE land tearing
I got through the quest (Mages Guild) but not sure if this is for FCOM or should I post this on TesNexus.

When you run BOSS, a boss log comes up, in html. You are supposed to read that.

Try doing that, and see what you discover.

but wait I see that you are using more than FCOM and yet are quick to blame FCOM - why? No need to ascribe false claims - there are more legit issues you can chase after than this bogusness.

This sounds more like a Unique Landscape conflict issue.

Your best bet is to in game and near the tear open the console and click on any inanimate object write down the FormID number. Then load all active plugins in Tes4edit and then search for that FormID ... it will give you the worldspace cells it is located in. Then look for other mods affecting that cell. Most likely you are missing a patch of some kind.

If you find a real issue - guess what - there is also a Unique Landscapes thread - you can find it with the search function.

Also screenshots help.

And yeah BOSS.

You should check the messages BOSS (and bash's mod checker) gives you, there is a warning message at the bottom of your spoiler for example. Also spotted a bunch of outdated mods - Item Interchange is 0.76 in your LO, while 0.78 has been out for well over a year.

It also seem like you just install all the esps from the mods you want rather than look at what they do, so you get some mods that do the same thing but for different setups... For example you have Item Interchange for DLC Frostcrag, Frostcrag Reborn and Frostcrag Spire Revisited all installed. Also you have all the bulk options etc... Should be just one of each.

There are other things aswell, OOO is at 1.33 where it should be at 1.34b5.
Actually, there's a LOT wrong with your load order. But start with making sure all the duplicates are removed and that you have all the latest versions of the mods (there are more mods in need of upgrading than those I mentioned)... And get rid of UOP Vampire Fix and Oblivion Citadel Door Fix (Use the vampire fix from Tweak Settings when building bashed patch instead).

Some other quick tips: I see all the unofficial patches there EXCEPT for the main one - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296.esp. Deffo make sure to install that, and make sure it's updated to version http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710. Also check in MMM/OOO/FCOM threads which esps to use, because I'm quite sure you need to drop some of those to make your install work fully.

I was not trying to blame FCOM at all - and my apologies for making it that way
I did actually post this on tesnexus as well - but thought I started a new thread on this - so I goofed

But will look into this - and the boss log
I did read through the boss log - but didn't see anything critical - though I could copy/paste the BOSS log here if you like.

My bet would be a Unique Landscapes issue. There's literally over a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13834. Scroll through them and grab any that apply to your list of mods. :)

I figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and tell how to find the conflict.

Mr. Geek - Oblivion is not like Morrowind - it requires lots of reading and patches ... lots of patches.

The engine is hardy with regard to being able to throw esp in and take them out, but yeah you can really mess things up by doing things like adding patches to mods that aren't there.

For the most benefit strip your load order back to just FCOM then slowly (like 1- 2 a day) add mods back after thoroughly reading the readme for each mod. And, maybe asking questions as you go.

and as a hint - opening multiple help me threads in one day is not appreciated by many here - try and really find the mod that you are concerned about and then look for its release thread if it exists before opening another thread.

I actually did read the ReadMe - though I will admit that some of it confused me - but I was hoping I did it right (though I doubt I did)
I will also admit I have a lot of mods I enjoy using - but wonder if it is worth using at all
Like Unique Landscape and Better Cities
While those two do bring some things to Oblivion - I can live without them.

Please understand I was not looking to get bashed by posting here- and was NOT blaming FCOM - I even posted this on Tesnexus looking for help.
But due to the fact that I did use FCOM I was not sure if there were mods I was using that was causing problems or not with FCOM

And I am willing to start a new post with a list of mods being used along with the boss report - for any help at all.
I will never claim to be perfect with this or fully understand it - but we all have to start some where - and I would be very grateful for any help at all. Even if we have
to email - if anyone is willing to help me with this I would greatly appreciate it - as I really do want to use FCOM and some of the mods I have - but not a requirement to use all of them.

Don't sweat the hazing. Sometimes you get a quicker answer by posting a general question instead of in a thread as these may not get looked at as often. I just scanned your LO and a few things jumped out which make me:

za_banmod should not be needed as that integrated into Better Cities (but someone can correct me)
B&M I remember requred Bravil Barrowfields patch
Better cities install needs patches for Cheyhindall falls, chorrol hinterlands, skingrad outskirts, etc. I may have missed these in your LO.


As everyone said before me, looks like you are missing UL patches. Get the patch compilation omod and install it, it will find the patches you need automatically I think. Or get the archive and go down the list until you find the mod you have and install the patch. The files start with the mod name it is patching so it should be easy.

Just keep posting it to this thread and it's all fine. :)

Some other quick tips after I had another glance at your posted LO.. grab the OOO - Snowdale patch from this page http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13834. (And if you grab the latest UL, Cliffs of Anvil, make sure to grab the OOO patch for that aswell from the site site). Also check it for patches for other mods you have installed.

Better Cities is at 4.8.4, so can upgrade that aswell. When installing it, make sure to install all the UL patches, looks like you only have the Imperial Isle-patch installed as of now.
Origin of the Mages Guild shows as v6, latest is v7.3 so should look into that aswell (I've never used OMG however so not sure, maybe it shows as v6 in BOSS even with 7.3 installed, if so ignore this).

I did give you quite a lot of advice in my post above if you missed it. Start by following the advice there and then report back if you're still having issues (with an updated load order) and I'll have another look.


I'm doing your suggestions: But one sticks out that I am not sure of what you mean:
Item Interchange for DLC Frostcrag, Frostcrag Reborn and Frostcrag Spire Revisited all installed. Also you have all the bulk options etc... Should be just one of each.

What should I do with these? Check/uncheck them --- what do I do with them?

Well I'd start with uninstalling the mod completely and then re-installing it properly. Not sure if you have BAIN or OMOD. Actually you might've even installed it manually? If you use OMOD, just follow the instructions and choose the version that is right for you. If BAIN, make sure to only check the esp for the version you have. If manual, rethink what you are doing. :)

To make it more clear: You need to only have one of those files in your loadorder, the others shouldn't have been installed at all so you made some mistakes during installation. So if you have Frostcrag Reborn installed, only keep the Item Interchange for Frostcrag Reborn esp. If you have the standard DLC Frostcrag, keep that esp etc.

Yeah no he is not reading readme's - as pointed out by Peste.

I figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and tell how to find the conflict.

Mr. Geek - Oblivion is not like Morrowind - it requires lots of reading and patches ... lots of patches.

The engine is hardy with regard to being able to throw esp in and take them out, but yeah you can really mess things up by doing things like adding patches to mods that aren't there.

For the most benefit strip your load order back to just FCOM then slowly (like 1- 2 a day) add mods back after thoroughly reading the readme for each mod. And, maybe asking questions as you go.

and as a hint - opening multiple help me threads in one day is not appreciated by many here - try and really find the mod that you are concerned about and then look for its release thread if it exists before opening another thread.



I do apologize for the multiple threads - I put the thread on here and yet when I tried to find it could not find it at all and figured it did not take - so I did it again.

Another mod issue not related to the land tearing, but still a problem: You have both Living Economy and Enhanced Economy installed, which guarantees problems with merchants.

Remove the two Living Economy mods, and upgrade Enhanced Economy to the latest version.

I'm going to start from scratch - but making a new post for help so it doesn't load this part up - so if you're willing (anyone is willing) to look at that post
Because what I will do is post what files I'm doing and in what order - version - the whole nine yards, that way someone (anyone) can catch it if I am doing something wrong and make a mess out of things.
Who knows - maybe I am installing something I don't need to

But would really like to get this working right - because I have done this installation 4 times -

So if you or anyone else is willing I will start from there - and wait for replies before I start the installation of modes.

I didn't want to tie this area up (which most is FCOM) with a bunch of
Okay I'm doing this now
and I'm installing this mod

I'm sure a lot of users here simply don't want to have to dig through all that to get to what they are looking for

Okay, so here is the run down:
I have an HP computer with Windows 7 (64) with UAC off (I hate that thing)
I have 3 gigs ram with a 500 gig hard drive
I have turned off a lot of the start-up items (MSCONFIG) and other un-needed processes - so this computer runs VERY good.

I am installing Oblivion in C:\Program Files\Games\Oblivion\Oblivion - so I have Games - Oblivion - and in the Oblivion folder I have Oblivion and Oblivion Mods that gets created with Wrye Bash - Yeah I know - goofy - but works)

I am installing the Oblivion Game Of The Year Edition - so I will be installing Shivering Isles as well

I have Wrye Bash (with Wrye Python 03a-2368 and Wrye bash 275/287/290) - OBMM (1.2.12.0) and OBSE (0.0.19.6) and Cobl 1.72.21104

Okay - so let's act as if I am stupid (yes, comments allowed at this point)

Should I install OBMM or Wrye Bash or should I update Oblivion with any patches first?

Keep UAC on just install Oblivion in a non-default location (like C;\Games) that should insure that it never hassles you. Installing he game in Program Files not recommended with Vista/Win7.

Turning it off (and advertising it is off) is not a good idea.

Install both discs of Oblivion first-This will ensure you have KOTN,SI and the 1.20416 version of Oblivion. I would install Oblivion into C:Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion instead of C:Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion and turn UAC back on.I would then install OBMM, Wrye Bash and then install your DLC's you do have. Install the UOP's and USIP and make sure you install the correct esps for an FCOM installation.
