Post » Thu May 19, 2011 11:09 am

Consider me just about completely computer illiterate. I have no idea how to install the FCOM mods. I really want too. They look great i just have no clue as to what im doing any tips or should i just give up and install seperate mods? Already installed obmm and Wyre Rash python and all that junk I downloaded the OOO mod and now am really confused as to how i am gonna intall it. I used to 7 zip to extract it and now im stuck. Again consider me computer illiterate. I looked at all the guides and am still confused.

PLEASE HELP!

I take it you're not very experienced with installing mods.

I'll give you some advice. Leave FCOM alone, at least until you get better. Try installing a few simple mods first, and then progress to maybe OOO and MMM when you get a bit better. Then slowly learn how to use tools like Wrye Bash and BOOS. After practice you will be able to attempt to install FCOM. Follow the steps in the FCOM forum topic, and try it out. You'll probably get things wrong the first time, it's difficult. But after a while, you should understand what's going on and installing it should go okay.

Thanks now i know to leave it alone till i can get help from a more experienced friend or get better at it. And yeah i am VERY inexperienced with mods. I only downloaded like 2 for The Witcher 2 and thats it.

Im guessing i did what i always do and started with a hard mod didn't i. Just bought oblivion too wanted something to fill the gap till Skyrim. Loved Oblivion. Then i saw the mods and said F*** it i am no longer a console gamer. That was today...im f***ed.

Also i downloaded OOO already how do i install that or a link to a 'for dummies guide' would be nice.

Easiest would be to use OBMM for the install, as OOO 1.33 Complete comes in an OMOD-ready variant and the 1.34 Beta 5 patch is easy to make an OMOD of as well. So in this case: download OBMM, get the hang of it, use the OMOD-ready version of 1.33, create an OMOD of it (basically Create > Add archive > navigate to 1.33 OMOD-ready > say yes > wait a long while).

It's safest to install huge mods (with lots of textures/meshes etc.) either via OBMM or Wrye Bash's installer, so it's a good idea to learn the basics of OBMM anyway. Alternatively, you can use Wrye Bash's installer (BAIN) instead. It's gives better control over the install than OBMM, but is perhaps not as easy to get started with. (That said, installing OOO 1.33 via BAIN is for most users as easy as installing directly from the archive.)

EDIT: In fact, thinking of it, it's easier to install via BAIN. And it's perhaps as good as any other mods to get started. With BAIN: install Wrye Bash, get the hang of it, open the Installer, highlight/right-click on OOO_133_Complete.7z (which should be in Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion Mods\Bash Installers) > install > wait a while.

I extracted using 7 zip then found the file via add archive feature on obmm. Is this right? It's compressing with two green bars i think it is loading something and OOO is pretty big file so...I did it right? Followed readme in OOO file. Thanks for advice. I think im gonna attempt FCOM just for the learning experience. LOL

This stuff makes me feel so stupid should have converted to computers awhile ago.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1197195-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom-relz/ gives exact step-by-step details and links on how to install FCOM.

It's really helpful. I used it and I'm an experienced mod-user for Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. I don't play with less than ~200 mods!

BTW, congratulations on leaving your console shackles behind! :foodndrink:

I can't advise FCOM as your first attempt at a modded game.
If you are determined though, thoroughly read it's home thread and follow the instructions and download links found in the opening post.
Don't expect to be hand held, but if you run into problems that's the place to post your questions.

The MMM download comes in two parts, one is all esp and esm files, the other is the MMM.Bsa.
You should use TheNiceOne's OMOD installer for MMM, but you can get away with installing the Mart's Monster Mod.esm, installing the MMM.Bsa then renaming it to FCOM_Convergence-Mart's Monster Mod.Bsa, and possibly adding Mart's Monster Mod - Shivering Isles.esp at first.
The other additional esm and esp files are not necessary and can be added after you do get a stable FCOM install set up.
The most critical part is getting all of the resources installed in the correct order, BOSS can sort the esm and esp files, but the install order of the mesh/texture and Bsa files is very important.
