Except Vanilla Oblivion wasn't that great at all. It only became good with that ridiculous scaling system was gone, so if they go back to Morrowind's system then all the better. Infact, bring back Morrowind's exploration and expand upon Oblivion's combat.. then you got a winning ticket.

Each game has there own feel, Morrowind like Todd Howard said was to feel like an alien place, Oblivion was ment to feel like knights and Renaissance time phrase, Skyrim will have its own feel. And each game changes alot after each predecessor, look at oblivion from morrowind frome example, 2 different play styles entirely but both worked fine. Betheseda knows what there doing by now after having Multiple games that won game of the year so dont worry there gonna make an awesome game. Im sure that Skyrim will be awkward to all of us at first getting adjusted to it but im sure well all adapt and love it.

I didn't think Fable 3 was even all that bad. And Bethesda has invested a lot of time, money, and resources into creating a new TES game. My expectations are exceptionally high but Bethesda has never disappointed me so far.

Don't worry. Skyrim will be nothing like Fable 3.

I wouldn't worry, the only thing I fear is that it will be a bug filled fest like Fallout 3 but something in my gut tells me that it will be different this time around.

Oblivion was good, but it fell short of what Bethesda accomplished with Morrowind.

while there will be some major changes in character development from oblivion to skyrim it all sounds pretty stable to me. you still are gitting the meat and potatoes of a good tes game. all they have really done is take out the traditional class system and stream lined it to where your not stuck to a class and you can play what you want.

What was wrong with Fable 3? (for those that have never played a Fable title).

Is better to ask what is good in fable3. The list is much shorter this way.

See Angry Joe review...

The main problem with Fable 3 is that it's just too silly to take seriously and none of the gameplay elements are developed well. I don't expect to see these kinds of problems in Skyrim.

Last time I checked, Bethesda makes GOTY games with 90+ scores. Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 all GOTY.

The scaling system helped balanced the game and provided never ending gameplay. In skyrim dungeons will be level set and only a one time run would be available. This svcks for players because it would just render the dungeon useless forever after use. In oblivion you were able to repeat dungeons although some players find it stupid, i thought it allowed the player to obtain more experience points for certain skills. i would hope we would be able to achieve the maximum level without paying trainers in skyrim.

:lmao:

The best experiences I've ever had with Oblivion all happened after I installed the Oscuro Oblivion Overhaul -- which just so happened to remove level scaling. Level scaling really broke immersion for me; there were bandits running around with better gear than I had, and my character never truly seemed to get any stronger. If I left something at level two and came back at level twenty there was still a good chance that I'd get my ass handed to me on a platter.

i worried about that at first but not anymore
theyve changed alot of gameplay mechanics, but they havent changed the classic tes formula
the reason fable 3 was so bad was because they just completely threw out the core ideals and tried to pass it off as a new experience
skyrim is different, but within the comfort zone of the other tes games

True, true in your point of view. but the real reason why your character never felt stronger was because of the broken leveling system. Many people picked skills they mostly use as there primary, this was a fatal mistake. This would level you up way to fast without you being able to get the maximum stats when you level up. Appose to getting +2 or +1 to your main stats if you had leveled efficiently you would always get +5 in primary stats and would dominate the npcs. So saying this i believe that the level scaling system wasn't really broken, it was just the leveling system.

If I have to specifically calculate the way I level just to keep up with the leveling curb, that therefore means that the leveling/scaling system is broken.

I agree.

Magic in oblivion for example was very unbalanced and weak as well as archery compared to melee. Melee was very easy and fast to train in oblivion, archery and mage took longer because you have to aim and fire, and it wasn't as strong as melee compared to melee's capabilities.

Although we are expecting an entirely new gamefeel, i just hope it is as great as morrowinds.

lmao good point. Well that explains a lot. But the thing is in skyrim they are eliminating both of these problems so no need to worry. But i do fear that level scaling would be ideal for dungeons because if, you level up then a low level dungeon that you have never seen would be a waste of time.

What? Makes perfect sense...there are people here who accuse anyone who resists change ever so slightly of being afraid of it, now someone has bravely stepped up and admitted their absolute fear of change. ;)
