#1 Fear for Skyrim?

Post » Wed Jul 20, 2011 1:00 am

My biggest fear for the game is that it will have framerate issues/lag consoles (like oblivion) when traveling in the open world.

No free roam after main quest, you'd think Bethesda being the king of open world and all, that would never happen, but then look at Fallout 3... You have to buy DLC to unlock free roaming, its pretty stupid you have to pay to unlock the game.

Mine is that switching between weapon/shield and spell sets will be awkward, especially since we can't block while using a 1h weapon+spell.

Confirmed to be open after main quest.

My biggest fear would have to be my rig not being able to handle the game on max. Not exceptionally worried, but it's a concern. Other than that, I'm a tad curious about how the dual-wielding is going to pan out on the computer, the same with the "improved" UI.

It has been confirmed on this very forum that you can continue the main quest afterwards.

You should be able to block with the 1H Weapon like in Oblivion, when you didn't have a shield you just block with your sword, plus you have to block each time an enemy strikes to block the attack not just hold down block which seems awesome (to me) and may lead to counter strikes. :mohawk:

My biggest fear is that the toolset won't be powerful enough to change the many things I currently dislike about the game.
Hopefully it'll be possible to add more of a RPG focus, and less of a hack'n'slash.

You haven't played the game yet, have seen decidedly little gameplay footage, and know very little in the way of how the RPG elements are going to pan out.

To call it a "hack n slash" at this point would be like saying Fallout 3 was a Call of Duty clone after seeing a five-minute demo.

Do you have to block when the enemy strikes or is that wishful thinking because that would be awesome it would make the game harder and someone please tell me if a dragon is breathing fire and i block with a shield will it do anything to protect me

My biggest fear is that dragons roam the world at the very beginning of the game, even if you didn't start the main questline yet.
I like slower paced main quests more.

Bethesda confirmed you can play after you've beaten the game. They've learned their lesson since Fallout 3. Confirmed by Fan Q&A.

If you can't block with a 1h weapon, I will not buy the game, and I will tell everybody I know not to buy the game.

It would be utter crap to not be able to block. I understand much less effective blocking, faster weapon breakage, random weapon breakage, active blocking, or just the inability to block missile attacks, but I absolutely will never understand no blocking ability.

Don't really have many fears. I do hope we can hotkey more than 8 items to our keyboards though. I'm pretty sure my system should run it on high at least, not worried about frames dropping. I predict 60+ fps, providing it's optimised well for the PC.

Not being able to dive into the game because I'll have little time due to my other commitments. Why can't they release it now I have time FFS, but not in November.
