Gotta laugh when you are strolling the wastes wearing a full suit of power armour carrying a mini gun feeling like quite the boss. And all of the sudden 2 raiders come up to you with 10mm pistols and attempt to kill you. Sometimes I wish this game had an intimidation system so NPCs would know when to fold. Oh well.

Oh the times i have laughed at feeble attempts to end a messiahs life.

If you cripple a Raider's leg, just one mind you, they will attempt to run away. After getting about 30 yards from you, they seem to have a check in their AI. Some crippled Raiders will keep on running, and I usually just let them go -----> I fire a couple rounds in air over their heads just to make my point. I might say in real life,"Yeah! Keep running mofo!"
Some crippled raiders will turn around and come back at you, they probably figuring, well I'm about to die anyway, might as well make it good.

But yes, I agree. If I was a raider and came up on two people and a dog, and one person is wearing power armor and carrying a heavy incinerator (my current party), umm yeah, I'll be leaving now.

Reading the fan interview thread , you see they had a more indepth system of haveing npc moral decline when the battle wasnt going their way. But apparently it appeared to play out in an annoying way for the player in the devs opinions. So they rolled it way back with leaving the raiders being the most effected and likely to run away.

It does make me laugh when my power armored laser toting guy gets attacked by a half naked man with a stick. Still, you've gotta admire their courage.

I figure it's the drugs. They're all high on drugs and figure that can take out a power armored minigun wielding tank with 10mm. Kind of like Tony Montana at the end of Scarface.

They're just following their dreams, some kids want to be astronauts, and some want to commit suicide. I just picked up Fawkes and the raiders attempts just got a whole lot more feeble.

Whenever it's an armed opponent and you want to intimidate them, target the weapon in their hand first.

When they drop it, they will often run. Sometimes, they will pick it up again if they can find it in retreat.

Also, catching the frag in someone's hand with a bullet before they get a chance to throw it at you is especially rewarding...
Defensive + offensive maneuver all in one shot.

Man, I remember watching a bullet, in slow motion, hit a grenade that was just out of the Raider's hand; to the point where it was just in front of his face.

*BOOM*

*Head flies across the map*
