Fears D: and Help :D

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:56 am

Hey :D i have no doubt this game will be great ! but yet i still have some fears and i wanna know bout yours lol my fear is that with the sliding mechanisim people will just slide and gun and be impossible to hit so the wole game will just turn into a big slide fest. In gears of war this thing happened where people would just roll around with shotguns and easily blind fire you so im scared it might happen in BRINK :/

I also want this thread to help get rid of people fears :) like if you see a fear but you have info that could get rid of it then let us know! please comment!!

I was worried about campers but not any more.

P.S. - IF people do start doing that after a while it should get old.

P.S.S. - YEAH FIRST AGAIN!

It's a good strike tactic, but since shotguns don't kill in one hit you would be able to land enough damage on them (as Wraith said) to leave them critically wounded for any of your teammates. If you're lucky, they'll end up incapacitated and you'll have a chance to melee them, which would be an instant kill.

I'm scared of 2 meds reviving each other in a small group like in the battlefield games. >_< Why can't they just die?!

Yes but they do recharge. They won't be constantly reviving so there will be time to revive each other while 2 vs 1 some poor svcker near an objective....

It will happen, just a little hard to tell how effective it will be though. They might run out of medic pips so that might fix itself.

Don't forget that revives take about three seconds to complete, and then you'll need another second or so to get back up. Compare that with BC2, where you can defibrillate someone, have them stand up instantly, and unload fire without taking damage for about two seconds.

brink wont have any problems because SD actually gives a f**k about the game unlike Gurella Games (spelling?) which i shall refer to as GG, dont care and add a instant kill melee like a backstab BUT YOU CAN DO IT FROM THE FRONT TO! and what everyone does is they run into you and no gun but a shotgun can kill fast enough at that range and inta kill you from grabbing you 5 feet away and you cant do anything unless somone else shoots him fast enough, and you go into 3rd person so if you do get saved then you need to wait for the camera to go back which is about 2 seconds and its enough time to get killed, also the infiltrator class which are about the only class people play and disguise there selfs to melee you, and the second most played class is the medic, no they dont be a medic to revive but to get a med drone which is a bot that follows them and protects them, if thats not enough they get a LMG (Light Machine Gun) which is extremely overpowerd and the only down side to it is the long reload but theres a "ribbion" you can earn to cut your reload time in half. and as a way to make medics more OP, GGgave them self revive.

and with a recent patch grenades are instant kill if you within the blast radius, what would ussaly just harm you if you were far enough now instantly kills you, not downs you, its a OHK, and weirdly rockets have a severly reduced splash now and you need a direct hit to kill somone and a group is rarely killed, and somtimes turrets are not destroyed on a hit.also spawn killing is easy with the melee kills, and sentrys and proximity grenades. lastly the patch they released gave KZ3 a bunch of fun glitches like the game saying you win right when the game starts so you get you factions emblm in your screen and your HUD disappears for the entire game.

Gratefully SD is NOTHING like GG and wont make anything like KZ3 which has now greatly disapointed me, which brink will not.

I fear that many people expect BRINK to be the solution to all their gaming disappointment and will be disappointed because it won't turn out like they imagined it.

I fear this also. I think people with over-inflate their expectations, and ultimately let themselves down - blaming it on Brink of course.

I don't think the sliding will be a problem it's not like we're playing golden eye 64 fighting odd job and having to use that odd aiming system to hit him...

Overexpectation and lack of information will do that.

Maybe some people simply want 2 much?

I'm worried that the single player will be quite repetitive. I mean, in a game where everything has to work both single and multi, I doubt there will be any set pieces at all.

Maybe they'll surprize us with more game types? Its taken them a while to make the game so i beleive they'll do fine.

Since nothing is scripted, and games will always play out differently, I see single player being anything but repetitive.

The Mike-Hamill-Joker or the Heath-Ledger-Joker?

As there are no game-types in a common style, they could only surprise us with new missions. DLCs wouldn't be surprise, tho.

Singleplayer will be as repetitive as mutliplayer and vice versa.
The more you play, the more you get used to it. And every mission has scripted events in it, so you will see these over and over again, no matter what.

To each his own.

I used to play Beach on RTCW all day everyday, for months, and I could play the MP in general for that game forever.

I don't care if I see them over and over again. If the game is good, it's good, and playing it never gets old. Richard Ham explains it well:

The nice thing is that a big part of what makes multiplayer so much fun translates directly into single player gaming, and our systems ensure that even when you’re playing by yourself, you’re getting a fantastic, dynamic experience. No mission ever plays the same way twice.

Tactics change, classes change, abilities change, and it’s always a new challenge every time you play. I’ve played most of the levels in Brink literally hundreds of times now, in multiplayer and single player modes, and yet I still enjoy playing them every time I fire them up. You can’t get that kind of staying power in a traditional single player game, where every sequence is heavily scripted to play out exactly the same way. It’s what makes our multiplayer and our single player so addictive.
