Features / Mechanics that I already want MODs for

6th, Change any reference to the word "Perks" ingame to "Talents" or "Feats" or some other fitting word.

Very good point. "Perks" belong to, and should stay in the Fallout world.

Shame on Bethesda.

Same here. Last play-through I was 40+ hours in, and never even visited The Blades santuary,,, forget the name now.

lol, I just got there last night on my new playthrough... I have fun with the game in general... just not oblivion. Probably a result of my first playthrough not understanding the leveling system and how to efficiently level. So now I've got it. 7 major skills put into skills I won't use, and I'll just run through on first level (and hope it works)

Haters gonna hate, I personally won't mod any of those things on my PC when I get Skyrim for it.

The game may need tweaks, but I don't see how one can gauge "balance" without playing it. I also think it's pretty likely that the game hasn't seen it's final numbers pass yet so it doesn't really matter whether it's balanced now or not. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if the frequency of dragon spawns that they think works best for demoing the game, isn't the frequency the game will ship with.

To the OP:

How about we wait this the game actually comes out before we start talking about how the game isn't good enough or how the mechanics aren't up to par. Let's, at the very least, give the devs the benefit of the doubt.
I'm willing to bet the issues you want mods for are actually non issues.

Shame indeed

Yeah, but unlike Fallout and apparently Skyrim as well, we aren't presented with a big old screen that essentially says "PICK YOUR PERK".

And I bet not everyone is going to share your opinion.

PC UI will obviously need fixing.

Since the game is made to console graphical standards; obviously graphical overhauls

Definitely agree on those.

I agree the game will probably be too easy, but I tend to shy away from large overhaul mods and prefer to make my own difficulty tweaks. I'm not too concerned with armor either, I'll only be using the vanilla armors till the first good mod armors come out. They are typically much higher quality than the vanilla armors (weapons too).

As for gold instead of just jacking up prices on everything I'd rather see something worthwhile implemented as a gold sink. No idea what that would be at this point though. Maybe a custom housing mod with servants similar to Verona House where you have to pay salaries, buy goods, food, etc. Maybe something else, I dunno.

I think what it comes down to, and its where a bunch of the tension and flames come from, is not that the division of people along this line is between "hardcoes" and "mainstreamers" or PC players and console players. Its between those that want a "deep fantasy rpg world with an action fighting game inside it" vs those who want an "epic action fighting game with a fantasy world inside it". Those in the former category, like me, have the right to be skeptical and are not wrong to prejudge based on news that has been released. The news indicates that this is the latter kind of game, and that really is the fundamental difference as time goes on. TES has similar elements from one iteration to the next, and Skyrim is still a TES game... but it is another step in the evolution of the series into an action fighter rather than an actual fantasy rpg. The thing is, there is just still so much that fantasy rpg lovers can love about TES in the lore, the connection to the other games, the setting, the magic, the fact that there is character rp even if it has diminished.... so that's what mods are for in my opinion: to "fix" the game to be the type of game we want to play while still leveraging the lore, artistry, and platform that Bethesda first creates. The vanilla game Bethesda makes is just no longer in the same genre that it was in previous games, and gets further from it with each release, even though many elements are ported over, the pace, presentation, and subtleties move toward a different end of the spectrum. Its opinion-based of course if that is good or bad, but if someone is of the opinion that it is bad, it is a single player game, and mods are for the person installing them. One thing to praise Bethesda for if nothing else is to provide the modding tools directly, which most other game companies do not do.
