Features that we ASSUME are in

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:15 am

After reading many comments around the forum that are mad about people not noticing between confirmed features and assumption I created this thread, so people can separate in their minds the confirmed features and the features that are possibly in.
This thread is the opposite of the Confirmed Features thread, everything in the list down below are speculations, no fact. So I'll be making a list of the features that we ASSUME are in, followed by those categories:

Character -
  • Possible head bobbing while sprinting, due to the head-bobbing animations at the beginning of the trailer.

NPC and Interaction -

Combat -
  • Seperate Pauldorns, based on screenshots and the trailer.
  • Volkihar (the Nordic vampires that live under the ice in frozen lakes and can grab you down through the ice). Because we're in Skyrim.

Player Skills and Leveling -
  • Possible social-skills (like Cooking, Wood-cutting, Mining, Smithing) mini-game, based on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-2_FNvarQE 1:50.

Interface -

World -
  • Mounts, based on the fact that we've seen a horse in the trailer.
  • High-res textures for the PC.
  • Nirnroots are back, based on the trailer's gameplay footage.
  • Two joinable magic factions. Because we know the Mage's guild has split into The Synod and the whatchamasomething of Whispers. Or it could simply be a repeat of the "Fighter's Guild/Blackwood Company" scenario.

Feel free to add to this list by commenting... I can't remember anything...
When commenting to add a feature, write down the assumption and what it's based on.

Oh God, I hope not; or if it is there, that it's easy to disable. Otherwise it'll be utterly unplayable for me.

In terms of other things, does the Fork or Horripilation count as a feature? Will it be more impressive than it was in the Shivering Isles?

Mounts
I'd say this is more of a hope right now, since the most recent info we have on the subject states that they are working to get it right, but they won't necessarily be in.

It hasnt been specifically confirmed yet, but Im assuming there will be grass.

P.S.- Hate to be cliche', but you know what happens when you ASSUME things, right?

There was a horse in the trailer, I guess it's enough to assume we have mounts, as for mounted combat... that's something we can't guess at the moment.

That why I made this thread, so people won't confuse between the things that are confirmed and are ASSUMED.

The trailer released like a week or two after the statement about them not knowing if mounts were in. It was also said that they would probably have horses, even it they weren't mountable, in the game because the world would feel weird without them.

Horses in game does not mean they are mountable. If Im not mistaken, in an interview it was stated that they were still working out the kinks, and if they could get it right there is a good chance of seeing it. However it seemed to imply there was still work to be done.

I completely agree. Horses were practically useless to me in OB. I liked to option of a faster method than walking, but they just looked awful.

I understand. But there is a very thin line between things we assume are in game, and things we WANT in game, and I have a feeling that a lot of this community just wont be able to decipher the difference. Then this thread becomes like all the others.

I honestly dont know of many things that I assume are in....I mean I assume there are treasure chests, but no one has confirmed it. See how long this could go on?

I'm talking about the main assumptions that go around this forum, and trust me, I've heard many. There is a difference between hopes and assumptions, if people read the thread's topic in the wrong way, it's not my fault.

Note that all the things in the list above are assumptions of what's in-game and what's not based on gameplay or confirmed details that we have heard so far.

I assume, but would rather be pleasantly surprised, there is going to be a cooking minigame.

I think that is more or less confirming the crafting aspect in general.... if you look it says 'workbench'.

This is kind of why assumptions are silly to focus on. People can assume all kinds of things. Someone assumed cooking, I assume a workbench.

Im not trying to be a jerk or anything, honestly. Im just saying that assumptions can be infinite, and everyone else has their own assumptions and ideas that may contradict someone elses assumptions.

Very large statues. Also I would say maybe a higher difficulty level, at least if you don't mess with the slider.

Ok, I re-edited the first post, I think now it is safe to say we can silently go back to topic.
If you want to post an assumption you have to name it and write down what it's based on.

Spears. Because we know polearms are in from the mag coverage. The assumption is that spears are a subset of polearms.
