February Game Informer Issue on its way now apparently

Post » Mon Nov 16, 2009 2:23 pm

So, I called GameInformer just now to double-check on my subscription, and was informed by them that both my January and February issues are on the way. I asked specifically: "My February issue? Are you sure?" and she responded "Yes, your February and January issues were mailed out to you three days ago, on the fourteenth." (I subscribed almost exactly two months ago, which is why I'm only getting my January issue now.) Unless they have a deliver-by-date or embargo date on the magazine, which they usually don't - I should get it in the next week or so. According to them, anyway.

So yeah, there's a lot of unknowns, but if the information that was given to me is correct, I might have the Skyrim issue in the next week as opposed to early January. I'm freaking out a little bit.

Any other GameInformer subscribers want to call their 866 and see if the same is true for them? So I'm not just some annoying person providing potentially false information? (even though, I promise: this is what was happened)

I'm sorry to tell you that your GI representative was unfortunately misinforming you. A while back we did a slew of research on the GI practices and release and mailing center/postal warehouse tracking etc. and there are clearly outlined timetables that are methodical and calculated. The February issue cannot even be sent to the USPS warehouses for distribution at this juncture :( I wish it were true though.

OK, well, to be absolutely certain, I'm going in to GameStop tomorrow and double-subscribing to the digital version ($15 - totally worth it). The digital version arrives about a week before the hard copy does, and from what I've been told all the articles are there just the same as the hard copy. So at least I don't have to wait until mid-January to get my copy.

Sorry for the jolt, guys. :/

On the contrary, thanks for letting us know what's going on. I'm still hoping I'll be able to buy a physical copy in the UK at some point.

Quick Question (sorry if I missed it)

Is the cover revealed before the Mag comes out? If so, how much before?

I don't think they would've printed them yet. Anyone know how early mags get printed?

The cover will be revealed January 6th online, and the magazine itself should be shipped either that day or the day after, arriving to subsribers a few days later and will be available to purchase in-store roughly a week later.

Yup, the reveal coincides with the ship date :)

Thanks, that's what I suspected but I wasn't sure. I knew it was very soon after the cover reveal.

I wouldn't even mention scans here, warning don't really disappear.

I'll be a good fan and say please post a summary if you get it early :)

Considering how I live less then a hour away from Minneapolis, where Game Informer Magazine is based out of, I think I might go on a ninja mission to steal a early copy :ninja: :toughninja:

Dude, I live less than an hour away from Minneapolis also. Wanna make this a co-op mission?

It would be awesome to see... considering the magazines are published at another facility entirely... but still the thought of two obsessed fans breaking into GI to see TESV before anyone else would make gaming history and elevate the franchise's status to a whole new level...

Not that I am nudging you into that highly illegal and aforementioned illogical ploy, but it would be nice to see some headline news attributed to the best gaming franchise the world has ever known.

We'll come break you out of the imperial prison by extorting the guard. He shouldn't have been "trading" with those dwemer artifacts anyway and that skooma we "found" in his private quarters wouldn't be good for his reputation that's for certain. :ninja:

Then you can give us the details!

Yes me and my cliff racers will be ready for a quick extraction.

I called a second time and was not given any solid information like I was the first time (mail date, which issue, etc - I did ask for it though), but the person did say that it was very unlikely that it shipped out. Usually issues don't arrive 'till the middle of the month, etc. So...I have no idea. Probably a good idea not to get excited - most likely misinformation, I think.

Sorry for the jolt, guys. :/

No problem mate.
