February Game Informer Issue on its way now apparently

Post » Mon Nov 16, 2009 7:01 am

So, I called GameInformer just now to double-check on my subscription, and was informed by them that both my January and February issues are on the way. I asked specifically: "My February issue? Are you sure?" and she responded "Yes, your February and January issues were mailed out to you three days ago, on the fourteenth." (I subscribed almost exactly two months ago, which is why I'm only getting my January issue now.) Unless they have a deliver-by-date or embargo date on the magazine, which they usually don't - I should get it in the next week or so. According to them, anyway.

So yeah, there's a lot of unknowns, but if the information that was given to me is correct, I might have the Skyrim issue in the next week as opposed to early January. I'm freaking out a little bit.

Any other GameInformer subscribers want to call their 866 and see if the same is true for them? So I'm not just some annoying person providing potentially false information? (even though, I promise: this is what was happened)

That is pretty good news, that would be amazing.

I hope you get it, that would be the best Christmas gift ever, being one of the first people to have an in depth look at Skyrim. If you do get it that early, please share!

Really ? I'm not familiar with GI, but is that customary it should arrive that early ? If that pans out, that is excellent news.

*edit* Ah... *cough* *should pay more attention to stickies* :P

Its a mistake. The magazines usually reach Gamestop/ship out on January 6th. I myself usually get it around the 13th of every month.

Indeed, please. :) Cannot possibly access it myself.

It isn't - usually I don't get issues until two weeks INTO the month they're out. So yeah, this is a bit early. :P

In terms of scans - I'm not saying anything except that I would like to put up scans somewhere. Would like to. :)

EDIT: I sent a tweet to Andrew Reiner asking about the whole situation. We'll see what he says. Hopefully he can clarify.

I wouldn't even mention scans here, warning don't really disappear.

I'll be a good fan and say please post a summary if you get it early :)

Interesting, now I really want to subscribe to game Informer. Sounds a bit nonstandard for them to be shipping simultaneously though, unless it's to commemorate something or the issue on Skyrim is more of a featurette than a regular issue which would follow a standard release schedule. Anyone else care to call up and see if, perchance, they've also been fortunate?

You'll find my informant at the docks. Pass him the scans as soon as possible. :whisper:

They were shipped together because I subscribed two months ago. It takes them 8 weeks (appx.) to process subscriptions, so when they're done processing, they usually send the previous and next issue together. So I guess I could have gotten lucky.

This... Just don't post the scans here.

If you're not lying and they really did send it to you, you have a moral obligation to share it with the rest of us. :foodndrink: But for your sake, find a way to do it privately and/or on another website.

This.

I'm going to assume the person from GI that talked to you doesn't know what they were talking about. However, if you do get it early that would be awesome!
Here's to hoping it arrives at your door next week :foodndrink:

Reiner http://twitter.com/Andrew_Reiner/status/15937944435036161 to your http://twitter.com/michaelbuffaloe/status/15936267057369089, said it was not possible. So I'm assuming you won't be getting the issue early... But hey, you never really know I guess.

Reiner responded to your tweet, said it was not possible.

I'm aware - I'm calling again to double check. Could it be bad information? I really don't know at this point.

In the meantime, guys, http://twitter.com/#!/Andrew_Reiner/status/15937944435036161. So feel free to be uninterested in this thread now. :)

Are you sure she didn't mean the literal January and February issues? Like technically that would be December and January.

No, that wouldn't make any sense. The literal February issue is the Skyrim issue. Maybe she said the December and January issues, and ConfusedCartman interpreted that to mean the issues that will be released in December and January, but she meant the issues that are actually dated for December and January... But if she actually said "February" on the phone, that has to mean the Skyrim issue . . . or else the issue that comes out a month later which is definitely not the case.

I called a second time and was not given any solid information like I was the first time (mail date, which issue, etc - I did ask for it though), but the person did say that it was very unlikely that it shipped out. Usually issues don't arrive 'till the middle of the month, etc. So...I have no idea. Probably a good idea not to get excited - most likely misinformation, I think.

Sorry for the jolt, guys. :/

Considering how I live less then a hour away from Minneapolis, where Game Informer Magazine is based out of, I think I might go on a ninja mission to steal a early copy :ninja: :toughninja:

BEST.

IDEA.

EVER.

[edit] In all seriousness, you should call them up or drive down and see if you can pick up a copy from the distributors. Maybe you'll be able to get one the day they ship (i.e. around Jan 6-8th, or a good week before most subscribers).

We'll come break you out of the imperial prison by extorting the guard. He shouldn't have been "trading" with those dwemer artifacts anyway and that skooma we "found" in his private quarters wouldn't be good for his reputation that's for certain. :ninja:

Then you can give us the details!
