Feeding as a vampire

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 12:26 pm

Something that surprised me in Oblivion was that your victims didn't die, let alone even wake up when you sank your teeth into their necks. I found this pretty silly to be honest. Any word on vampire changes, specifically this? And can you feed on people that are awake this time?

Yea I thought that was pretty lame, too. There should be some sort of struggle. Or at least we should be able to hypnotize our victims into allowing us to have a drink. :yuck: Nobody would just lie there sleeping while such a heinous act is taking place. There should be some drama.

I'm currently playing a vampire in Oblivion. Whenever have her bite a neck, I immediately folllow this with a Drain Health spell. This way, at least the victims react.

I'm hoping for deeper immersion in Skyrim, and I'm betting there will be improvements, but I have not a clue yet how this'll pan out.

It's common in vampire stories for victims to wake up and notice a bite mark on their neck without waking up feeling it... People never die from vampire bites unless they drain them completely or bite a chunk out of their neck. I would like to turn people into vampires though, that'd be cool and I'd like to have the option to drain people and bite them while they're awake.

A vampire bat feeds off of the fingertips of humans. People will sleep through this as well.

Well...Dracula had it that'd you'd slowly die from blood disappearing until you do die and you wake up as a vamp. If you drink vamp blood, you end up turning into one.

I would like to see a person be able to jump on a person and feed. That's sorta how it worked in MW, except it was a drain health spell. In fact, that was the only way to get health back as a vamp in MW (save for potions)

Only if they are sufficiently drained of blood.

I think some posters in this thread have never had the pleasure of reading the original Dracula by Bram Stoker.

There are many legends and tales of vampires guys, not just the Anne Rice/Twilight Lady's versions. In most legends, people don't even know they are bitten, or are held in thrall by the vampire, helpless to defend themselves.

Don't hate on Bethesda. :sadvaultboy:

Vampire hypnosis? They put the victim in a kind of trance so they are not constantly stuggling while being fed off of?

Hmm fair enough.

I still get the feeling this just comes down to laziness. You know what would be infinitely cooler than this vampire hypnosis? The victim struggling under your powerful grip while being completely drained and turning white. You'd then look down at them and see a pale, stiff , lifeless body.

If you feed on awake people, it would be nice to see them left in a trance after the attack. If there on there feet. If anyone has played Vampire:The masquerade..was a excellent way of how characters reactions to live vampire attacks. I doubt anyone here has any official information they could give you, other than you can turn into a vampire following a contact of this disease. It is said that they have the power to "freeze" there victims with a icy breath, also some what similar to be Oblivion. There is a video with a interview of the lead artist, Matt Carofano, talking about Vampires. Its vague, but info that you might not be aware of.

A tricky response from Todd Howard states in summary, not word for word.

You can't play as a vampire, but you can turn into one.

or! here is the "official" tweet.

I would like to have a choice between killing and not killing my food. Disinsanguinated corpses would alert everyone to your presence and it would be harder to move around as the Vampires in Skyrim cannot hide their Vampiric nature like the Vampires in Oblivion could.

Well, normally people don't wake up from vampire bites according to most stories.

I think in Oblivion you couldn't turn them because eventually, you'd have a town full of vampires.

Also, vampires can't feed off of other vampires.

As long as some of them go into depression and commit suicide. I can't imagine many of them would be happy that they have to stay out of the sun and kill people to feed for the rest of their lives. I read in an article about someone that played Skyrim saying that they found a body flowing in the river with a suicide note. That's exactly the kinds of things I want to see.

In a sense I guess you could call it glamorizing dark subjects but these are the kinds of things that make a game or movie truly memorable and worth playing/watching. It's always in the details.

Its just a Cyrodil vampires.

Only one known tribe exists in Cyrodiil; they are experts of concealment, their true name lost in history. Much like the Imperials, they ousted their competition. Indistinguishable from the living if well-fed, these Cyrodiilic Vampires are cultured and more civilized than vampires of other provinces, using their stealthy abilities to feed on the sleeping and unaware. Calling themselves the Order, they have made Cyrodiil their home as of the Third Era, and in accordance with their strict tenets, these vampires follow the Daedric Princes Molag Bal and Clavicus Vile

And now Skyrim vampires

The next day, he did return with more questions, these ones very specific. He wanted to know about the vampires of eastern Skyrim. I told him about the most powerful tribe, the Volkihar, paranoid and cruel, whose very breath could freeze their victims' blood in the veins. I explained to him how they lived beneath the ice of remote and haunted lakes, never venturing into the world of men except to feed.

Having in mind that they venture into the world of men only to feed, they probably look more monstrousy rather than like men like it was in Cyrodil. Cyrodil vamps were feeding on sleeping victims and were more civilized, so beeing a Volkihars vamp would be a whole different experience.

Buyt maybe some other vampires showed in Skyrim area within those 200 years, like Cyrodil vampires :sadvaultboy: . That would svck
