I Feel Like I Woke Up in the Wrong Universe This Morning...

Post » Fri Jun 12, 2015 5:06 am

Just as a primer for this tale, I deliver bottled water in three and five gallon (11.35 and 18.93 litres fyi) sizes to businesses and residences for a local company.

As I was making my first regularly scheduled stop this morning at a business that helps people with mental disabilities find work, the woman who's in charge of the area that I deliver to gave me an envelope with my name on it after she had signed my digital handheld and I printed a receipt (the company that I used to work for I had to hand make tickets all the time, love technology). At first I wasn't sure what it was; I thought it was either something that I would hand-off to my supervisor later or maybe it was for a fund-raiser they were doing. After I got back in my truck, I opened it and read the letter inside.

This is where it gets weird.

Apparently, the writer of the letter had thought that I had "wanted to talk to" her, and had included her card with number and wanted me to text/call her. There was a "If I have misread this situation and the vibes I got from you" clause as well, which stated just ignore her and she'll pretend nothing happened.

At first I wasn't sure who the letter was from, the woman that I usually deal with is kinda personality-plus and quite a talker, so I didn't make sense to be her, but she's also the only one I have dealt with regularly for the past several months. I looked at the signature in my handheld and ... apparently it was all the same woman.

Now, I have no clue what made her think that I had any interest in her in any way- I drop off the water, clean the water cooler, get her to sign the handheld, chit-chat a bit just to be friendly, then go about my business to my next stop. I've thought about texting her just to say "idk what you're going on about, but sorry, not interested" or some-such.

If you're wondering about the thread title, it's because this is a very unusual occurrence for me, like, something that never happens. It seems more like I fell through space and time into an alternate reality.

I also find it interesting because there are several young ladies that I do obviously semi-flirt with, with no illusions of anything happening at all, who will likely never do anything remotely similar to this.

So, the rest of you, have you ever had a day that made you wonder if YOU had woken up in the wrong reality/dimension/universe? Feel free to share, and thank you for reading, but not giving unsolicited advice.

I've never had a day quite like that, but here's some unsolicited advice anyway.

Ignore her and let it go away. All it takes is one complaint on her part accusing you of inappropriate behavior and you'll probably lose your job, and be forced to look for another with the label of "sixual harasser" hanging around your neck. It probably won't happen, but it's not worth the risk.

On the other hand though I feel like if she's the type of person to falsely accuse him of such a thing over him rejecting her advances, she's also the type of person who probably won't just let it go.

Edit: On the topic in question though, yeah I've had a few days like that. Where everything just seemed "off." Its a hard feeling to explain to be sure.

Sometimes I have days like this where it feels like I left one reality for another---even worse when my dreams get involved and then it becomes WTH party  .

True, but if he ignores her message, there won't be any incriminating voice mails, texts, and such to be paraded in front of his boss. By all means be courteous and polite with her while on the job, but take her up on her offer to let this thing quietly die if no action is taken.
