Feeling Burnt Out.

Post » Sat May 02, 2015 1:13 am

I dont know why but lately I just can seem to play a game for more than 30 minutes without feeling..... bored. I have several games I have not even finished. I feel bad about it, it's like I have these stories and adventures I've invested myself into and I just dont have the motivation to dive into them. It's really odd for me but at the same time I've been gaming since I was 4 and have never really taken a break from it.

I dont know... any of you guys ever feel this? Any of you guys ever just stepped away from gaming to later go back.... or never went back to it at all?

Yeah, I've been there multiple times. Sometimes I just feel so uninspired and can't be bothered. Sometimes it lasts a couple of months, sometimes it lasts a few years. Right now I am having that "nothing's feeling new" sort of vibe, though that's probably because very little is new right now: I'm not in the mood to invest time and effort in a new game just to find I don't really enjoy it, though I seem to be happy enough preoccupying myself with New Vegas at the moment, which I guess is a gaming equivalent of a comfortable but rather worn pair of jeans!

I have been like that multiple times, too. It was only recently I got back into gaming but thats because of big titles coming up and E3.

I cycle through periods when I lose interest in games. These periods usually last a month or two. They come and go like the flu. It has nothing to do with the games themselves - I just don't feel like playing any game. I've been through it so often now that I no longer worry about it. I know the desire will come back sooner or later.

I was burnt out with Minecraft and after about 6 months of jumping on and off a server never really doing anything, I've came back and began building Rome.

Just take a break from gaming. Do something else for a while and come back to gaming whenever you can be bothered.

Hmm, just make a rest - or try to find a different kind of game that you never played so far.

For example an simulator, or a tennis tournament, some nifty board games, or an adventure game, perhaps ???

Just take a break. I had it a while ago. Couldn't play anything. Stoped for a few months, then I returned and I was full of vigor to play tons of games :D

Happens to me a couple of times a year I'd say. Like others have said, stepping a way for a while and investing in other hobbies or activities you enjoy is a good way to recharge so you can come back later with fresh enthusiasm. I'm sort of in that period right now but even so, I've bought a couple of games that I know I'll be getting hooked on when I jump back in.

Well, I have 3 books that I'm reading. Prince Lestat, Clash of Kings, and Count of Monte Cristo. I think I'll step away from games for a few weeks and devote more time to reading for a while.
