I'm trying to get to Ian West. Vance has given me the code to his "meditation room" but I'm darned if I can find the meditation room. I've searched both the downstairs area and the upstairs mezzanine but nothing. Everyone keeps saying Ian has to stay in meditation. Where the heck is he?

Walk up the stairs to the mezzanine and look at the wall to the left, there should be a doorway to a short hallway - that you lead you right too him.

I am new to FO3.

I can't seem to find weapons/ammo and I have 1 cap but with a lot of misc stuff worth 0.5 or 3 caps.

I want big guns like in pictures/ads/etc of the game package. Where are those guns!?!??

Start with small guns and work your way up.Find Megaton and do Moira's quest(at Craterside Supply) and check out Springvale.Collect everything and sell it to Moira.By the end of the game you'll have more caps than you can spend.That should get you started.

On the bodies of the creatures/characters you kill along the way. As mentioned, start out with Small Guns and you will eventually come across one of the bigger weapons. They're not something that comes up in the vendor inventories all that much, you mainly have to scavenge them from your victims.
