Fehler bei der Mission "Vor dem Zaun"

Post » Thu Mar 17, 2016 9:57 pm

Guten Abend miteinander,

Actually more like someone reminding another of a forum rule and helping them not getting into trouble.

Not really. It's explicitly stated in the forum rules that it is an english only forum.

may you point me to the official bethesda german forums then?

not providing international help for an international marketed game is... a bit unprofessional.

yes, nowadays everyone is expected to speak fluent english... but that doesn't reflect reality.

about one third of germans at my age never had english in school... they learned russian, remember?

yes, it's not that long ago and there are still survivors ;)

and if Beth wants to ban me for the forums for something they are not able to provide... go on, don't care.

Shame that an American forum, you know, the "free country of all cultures", doesn't support all languages.

But hey, rules are rules, so I guess we all have to stay engrish.

P.S. yes I'm 'murican

That is not Bethesdas problem, they do there best to stay open, but in the end they are just a company, and a company has limits.

Maybe its better long term to try and solve things in the other end and raise awareness in Germany that a higher % of its population needs to know base levels of English *shrugs*

I dont see how remarking a flaw in a countries social structure is being offensive, I could understand if my comment had been of a demeaning nature, but it is not. Or at least that was not the intention.

Lol calm down people. It's not the end of the world, because one wrote in German. I am sure the mods will take care of it. Besides, if the OP don't speak english, how do Bethesda propose he read the rules? Anyways, as said, not a big deal, just move on :D

In before the innevitable lock for those on forums that like to challange rules just to challange them lol no one cares or is even talking about english as a second language in history. It's a rule, follow it or don't be a part of the forum. Really simple

In all honesty, I am more upset about countries of other languages going nearly 100% English/American than any country refusing to learn English. It irks me to hear other countries having pop songs that are fully English, as if it is cool or something... But then, the American school system seems to discourage anyone from really learning a language. We are told we need a certain amount of foreign language, restricted to what's available at our school, to graduate, then...after that, it just depends on what kind of career you want. The rest is up to you, no one else has to care whether or not you learn a foreign language. It's sad, really. Whereas Germany and many other countries in the world teach their children English alongside their other basic classes.

But I digress, as technically we aren't supposed to bring real-world issues into the forums. But I will (sadly) agree that, yes, the rules here state that it is an English language forum. :(

I hear ya, but broken english is better than posting in the wrong language (on an english-only forum, that is).

Plenty of overseas folks post in mangled english here anyway, it's all good.

i'll just keep out of this conversation.

This is NOT the forum for such nonsense. At all. Your post is borderline flame-bait.

Demanding anything; if at all; from "your" culture is ludicrous. Within the Bethesda Forum, or any at all; if someone doesn't know what language or where to post you direct them and make no further comment. Regardless of how riled up you are.

This is basic forum etiquette - It avoids clutter and salt.

I come from Sweden, we do indeed not expect anyone to learn our language unless they want to, nor should they need to, when there already is a handy, widespread language that we could learn instead. Which we did, making it a core subject in school at a early age.

(And as a side note, yes there are talks of adding Chinese too)

Yup, in Denmark as well. Children learn it from first class, and later on, they have the choice of french or german as well, in some cases spanish. We kinda have to, as I don't suppose other countries we trade with, wanna learn any of the scandinavian languages :D

I really wish that there was this mindset in America. As I stated in my post above, lots of countries have English be mandatory in schools, but America makes other languages be optional, or at least have a bare minimum you need to pass in order to go to the next level of school (especially college). But no one gives a damn after that what we do with our interests. Sometimes I feel very depressed about the whole issue. But then I don't want other countries forsaking their language and trying to be like Americans and "hip" or whatever, either. Every place has its own strengths. No one has to try to be like Americans (or British), either, and yet that's the mindset that Americans/British tend to force upon other countries, especially those in Asia and other underdeveloped regions.

Well, english has become one of the universal languages. So, in that regard, US and UK might be a bit lazy in that regard, as in, "we don't really need it" Overlooking there is other benefits to it as well, besides talking with foreign people. A lot of things also gets lost in translation, and I sometimes wish I could just write in danish, because sometimes there just isn't the word for what I am trying to say, and it gets all clunky :D
