Well yeah...but then he's an actual voice actor. He was Haku in Spirited Away, voice acting credentials don't get much better than that.

actually the actor who voices Boone is James Marsden aka Cyclops in the Xmen movies. Jason Marsden (wonder if they're related) voiced Haku and was on Full House as Dj's rich boyfriend

I enjoyed her character in NV.ENough that she was the first companion who I fully explored her dialouge, and did her companion quests.

Of course,I never watched anything she was in so this was pretty much my first experience with her.Having no pre-expectations from the va's in the game.(well honestly except the narrator, which I expected more of the same, and Michael Dorn who I though was gonna do Marcus right, and as far as im concerned,he did.)

She pulled off the flighty girly-girl whos into girls, and punching things.(had to be careful how I wrote that heh)Perfectly.

Surprisingly. Veronica has been my companion for a while now. Good voice acting and I like her character. I haven't felt like letting her go.

Same here. She's been with me for quiet a while. I like her too. Don't plan on getting rid of her anytime soon.

I gave her a Super Sledge, and she's pretty good with it. :)

I'll definitely look forward to it. I only got the game yesterday, but I've heard a bit about the voice-acting and have enjoyed the little bits I've found so far.

One favorite I'll always remember was.. I think it was SSX Tricky. Had an OUTSTANDING voice-cast. Only problem was, there wasn't really any dialog, just sound-bytes.
Bif Naked, Lucy Liu and David Aroquette, as well as many, many more. There was hardly a name that didn't stand out when I went through the list. And watching the vid-clips of the recordings was an absolute riot!

No, the earlier post was correct. Boone is Jason Marsden, not James. No X-Men connection. Just a quality VO actor.

I'm not surprised to find out she turned out to be a good voice actor, just surprised she ended up being my favorite companion. Before this thread I had never heard of Felicia Day or the Guild.

@ skins. Yeah, she's great with any melee weapon. I know she's partial to the fist so I gave her a displacer glove, but she's a total monster with a rebar club. Damn! lol

Woo...developer props :D

But yeah, Jason Marsden is a proper voice actor, not really famous for his TV or film work but he's been in a dozen brilliant games. Fallout 2, Tactics, Baldurs Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Knight, Sacrifice...to name but a few. Real voice actors deserve much more fame than they get (well outside of Japan they do at least). Jennifer Hale makes games worth playing by herself. If you don't know who she is, check out her IMDB and take a look at her video game roles, Samus Aran...need I say more. Or Simon Templeman, another great but totally underappreciated voice actor.

I found a named (unique) Super Sledge but sold it and can't find it now. So sad. I would love to see her with it... next playthough...

So I set her up with "Punchy" (no spoilers here, you'll know it when you see it) and power armor. It almost seems unfair, though highly entertaining, the way she wades through enemies.

Boone with the Antimaterial (sp?) rifle with an assortment of ammo is pretty awesome too. Fish in a barrel. (Blam!=dead, Blam!=dead, Blam!=dead, etc. etc. ad nauseum)

This.

Got Boone and ED-E for now, will give Boone a rest at level 20 when it's time to enter the strip, then I'll take Veronica in for some Gambling! Looking forward to seeing her in action. :)

There's also a shack that only she can open, have to swing around to that.

Have to say that I'm going to miss Boone, he is 10 kinds of awesome in a firefight. I just don't see that when I look at Veronica and her power-fist thingy... hope I'm wrong!

Well I've seen Felicia day in a lot more than just "The Guild." She's had guest appearences on shows like "House" as well as in much of Joss Whedon's work. I think you'd also really like her in "Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Web Blog."

So yeah I expected her to be pretty good. I'm a little dissapointed she doesn't sing (although she isn't the greatest, it would have been a nice nod towards Dr. Horrible.)

Was anyone else pleasantly surprised by how good a voice actress she is?

I couldn't really remember much about The Guild as I watched one episode of a few years back and I remembered it being painful. I looked it up again after hearing she was in New Vegas...it didn't go down any better the second time so I was all geared up to shooting her NPC in the face when I got to her in game. I mean shes no Megumi Hayashibara, but I reckon she's found herself a career. She did a better job than Liam Neeson did in the last game if you ask me.

Having said that I did see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfyeJ6CX0vI the other day for the first time so I might be slightly biased because that's all kinds of awesome.

I'll have to respectfully disagree about the Megumi Hayashibara. In my experience, every single Japanese voice actress does the same old super-high-pitched squeaky-voiced pre-teen voice. Boring.
Oh, there's also the deep-voiced "badass" character, but that's about it.

But yes, Felicia Day is awesome. She puts some real personality into the character, and really helps bring her to life. I was impressed big time, but I was also a fan of her work on Buffy, House, Dr. Horrible, The Guild, Legend of Neil... ESPECIALLY Legend of Neil. ;D
But not every actor can voice act, so yeah. Impressed.

Veronica has some of the best lines but I find her melee-centric combat settings to be an annoyance.

But my character, Boone, and ED-E make for the sniper team from hell.

I thought she was wonderful, but woooah now. Liam Neeson made for a very loving, gentle, smarty-pants, ass-kicking father and I am proud to be his daughter. So proud. :cold: Nevar forget

I'm kinda glad they didn't. Remember when Square-Enix put Gackt in the FFVII games? Oh man... Modern day celebrity in my 1950's style post-apocalyptic game? Instant immersion killer. They'd have to name her Codex, and give her a staff, and she would ask, do you wanna date my avatar? And you'd laugh and say ahah, that's so clever! The Guild references! What will they think of next?

:cryvaultboy:

Well I liked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDRa8FDL2ts. In fact, because you are supposed to be a courier in New Vegas, I named my character "The Courier" in the spirit of that movie. Now, it isn't the same circumstance, but I wold disagree with it being a bad idea.

I have no idea what show she is from, and i have never heard of her before. If we are talking about Veronica, i find her to be an enjoyable companion. When ever i need to mule stuff to her she either asks if it is a dress, my favorite is when she asks your going to make me carry the heavy stuff arent you. I just love that lolz, i do answer her with a yes of my own. It is kind of funny as i have her and Ed-E set on aggressive so when i fire it is like a starters pistol all i need is for them to yell Leroy Jenkins to be perefect.

I didn't even realize Felicia Day was Veronica. I didn't care for Veronica's style of combat or dialogue that much. It was ok. I mostly laughed when she was all enigmatic about her "family," and then when I gave her some T-51b Power Armor to hold she put it on straight away when no other companion could even hold it. I was like "Family, eh?"

Why'd you expect her to be awful?
(But, then, I'd seen her in Buffy, Dollhouse & the bit of Dr. Horrible that I saw.....)

Interesting. I wonder if it was because I had a female character, or some of the things I'd done in previous quests, but she told me who her family was right in our initial conversation.

Like I said, I've seen The Guild and again, like I was saying, "celebrity voice overs" are usually a disaster. They either don't see it as real work and just half-ass it, or they just can't do it. I get the impression that a lot of them are disconcerted by not being able to use body language or their face to express emotions so they go totally overboard with weird inflections. That Kingdom Hearts clip I posted is a perfect example.

OMG My head just exploded. That's amazing.

I think I need to get out more. I've started to fall in love with Veronica. Ok, a bit of an exaggeration but Felecia has a sixy voice and did a great job. Veronica is the only human companion I've had and I'm reluctant to let here go. How about we say it's a crush instead of love? Damn, I really do need to get out more. ^_^

That 'Still Alive' video was good to, hadn't seen it before.

She wasn't particularly good in it, it's more just the awesomeness of the whole situation, a whole crowd of people singing along to Portal. It's ace.

Every time I talk to Boone I picture Myron from Fallout 2 in my head, it prevents me from taking the character seriously. Still Marsden is a great VA, and it was nice to see a real voice actor in the game.

I think Rose of Sharon is a better written character than Veronica.

I agree, while I love Felicia and her character, I found Cass is probably the most honest and the best companion to talk to.

Agreed. I got the goose bumps feeling when the crowd started to sing along. (I love Still Alive. It's one of my "feel good" songs. It's been on my MP3 since it was released.)

I liked pretty much all the voice acting in this game myself. I thought Matthew Perry did an awesome job with Benny, he pulled off the the voicework for that backstabbing little weasel very well in my opinion. Matthew Perry probably got the job because prior to New Vegas he'd been going around telling several talk show hosts and such about his love for Fallout 3...I for one am glad to see a celebrity who is willing to admit that he loves playing video games like a normal human being. Felecia Day did alright too but I find it annoying that her character likes to fight unarmed, seriously who wants to fight gun wielding junkies with their fists...voicework wise I think she did fine.

The only voice actor I didn't like, and I may catch some hell for this, was Mr. New Vegas, who I found to be hard to understand and seemed to mumble a little too much for my tastes...also he repeats songs too often. ;)

All the others did a great job.
