Felecia Day

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 11:07 pm

Was anyone else pleasantly surprised by how good a voice actress she is?

I couldn't really remember much about The Guild as I watched one episode of a few years back and I remembered it being painful. I looked it up again after hearing she was in New Vegas...it didn't go down any better the second time so I was all geared up to shooting her NPC in the face when I got to her in game. I mean shes no Megumi Hayashibara, but I reckon she's found herself a career. She did a better job than Liam Neeson did in the last game if you ask me.

Having said that I did see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfyeJ6CX0vI the other day for the first time so I might be slightly biased because that's all kinds of awesome.

Veronica is definitely my favorite companion when it comes to conversation, and I think Day pulls off the sarcasm perfectly.

You mean the brotherhood chick right?

I havn't met Matthew Perry yet, but I'm not expecting good things. There's nothing worse than a mediocre TV/movie actor trying to do voice over work. Like Carrie-Anne Moss in Mass Effect *facepalm*

Edit - Oh wait actually, can't mention terrible celebrity voice actors without mentioning Mena Suvari's redition of Aerith from Final Fantasy....

Wonder why they didn't think to give Veronica red hair and green eyes like Felecia? Would have been a nice touch.

Because that would be cheesey? It would turn her into a novelty character.

Oh...hmm....Matthew Perry is Benny, I thought he'd stick out like a sore thumb. Fair play to him.

Surprisingly. Veronica has been my companion for a while now. Good voice acting and I like her character. I haven't felt like letting her go.

I didn't really have any reason to be surprised - I haven't watched The Guild (aside from a very catchy song from them I came across on YouTube recently), but I quite liked her in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and going further back, her role in the final season of Buffy.

I love the Guild and watched all 4 seasons. Veronica is the best companion I think... I gave her power armor and ballistic fist... Holy crap she is a one woman army! She can 1 hit giant rad scopions.

Well yeah...but then he's an actual voice actor. He was Haku in Spirited Away, voice acting credentials don't get much better than that.

I'm pretty pleased with all of the voice acting in this one.
I agree that Felicia Day did a great job (I spent more time with her than any other follower on my first playthrough) but I also really liked several others.

Matthew Perry actually did a pretty good job. I didn't know it was him that I was listening to until I watched the youtube videos. Pleasent surprise.

The followers' voices were the ones that I appreciated most.

Danny Trejo's character is a blast to listen to. His rough voice fits the character he plays really well and he has a lot to say. Nice.

I had fully expected Zachary Levi's voice to jump out at me when I found his character, but it didn't. I had him following me around for half an hour before it clicked.
Too bad his character didn't compliment my play style very well and had to go.

Trejo was pretty good yeah. I've no idea who Zachary Levi is though so wouldn't know what to expect, dunno which character he is either.

Zachary Levi plays Chuck on the TV series by the same name.

He voices one of the followers. I can't remember the character's name but he is the doctor that you meet in the Follower's of the Apocalypse compound (and, for me, the hardest of the lot to recruit).

Actually i thought she did pretty good in ME2 as Aria, "I am Omega" was hot. It is pretty hard to make an Asari that is not hot though, Liara, Samarra, and Aria very yummy.

"Felicia Day, not as awful as youd think?" :stare: You thought she would be awful? :stare:
I'd love to have Veronica in my party but I picked Raul and stuck with him.

I thought she was wonderful, but woooah now. Liam Neeson made for a very loving, gentle, smarty-pants, ass-kicking father and I am proud to be his daughter. So proud. :cold: Nevar forget

I'm kinda glad they didn't. Remember when Square-Enix put Gackt in the FFVII games? Oh man... Modern day celebrity in my 1950's style post-apocalyptic game? Instant immersion killer. They'd have to name her Codex, and give her a staff, and she would ask, do you wanna date my avatar? And you'd laugh and say ahah, that's so clever! The Guild references! What will they think of next?

This. :stare:
Also the second part, but after Raul gaines his spurs (literally), I gave him some well-deserved rest at the Lucky and picked up Veronica. ^_^

I actually always thought he was the best one on Friends so I always thought he'd do great here but even I was surprised - That you don't even realise it's him is a credit to him, shows he got into the part and doesn't just play everything the same way.

And Felicia is excellent as Veronica.

I think it shows when the actors are really happy to be there - there's no doubting that Matt and Felicia weren't just doing this for the money but because it's something they wanted to be involved with.

Well, he was the funniest, but that's not saying much, Friends was hardly cutting edge comedy, but then if your talking which one of them is the most accomplished actor/actress then I'd say Jennifer Aniston probably pips him to the post.

Really though, whether he was good in Friends or not is irrelevant. Being good in front of a camera is an entirely different skill to being good behind a mic as has been made clear by so many horrible celebrity voice overs in games. Take a look at this lollerskates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6x7zWhsgQA and you'll see what I mean. The actress is Mena Suvari, she starred in American Beauty which won 5 Oscars. Good actress...tear-your-hair-out awful voice over artist.

Sur...prised? I've been expecting she would be amazing since the day I found out she'd be voicing a character. Naturally, I was more than correct. Felicia Day is amazing.

However, the Fallout series has always been known for it's quirky humor in inserting modern pop culture references.

I think Rose of Sharon is a better written character than Veronica. I never watched The Guild, so that may be why.
