I don't know about you guys, but when I'm playing video games and it lets me make a male character, I don't go...
"HOLY [censored]. THAT MUST BE ME! I'M IN. THE. GAME."
The whole 'playing as a character that's the same gender' thing isn't going to make you feel more involved in the game any more than playing as a male character does. If it does make you feel more involved, you may have some growing up to do. It's hardly important to make a female characters in the grand scheme of things that need to be updated and fixed with the game.
Games like Portal and Mirror's Edge both have female character and are some of the best games that have come out lately, as a man I don't care in the slightest that I'm playing as a woman because it's not important in a FPS. More importantly, think about it this way, if you came into the room halfway through a match and started playing, how would you ever know you were playing as a female character? You wouldn't, because it's not important to the gameplay in the slightest. Don't let your gender obsessions get in the way of BRINK becoming the game it was meant to be!
Think about the time you'd see them rather spend on BRINK; Making female characters, or adding new levels, weapons, maps, updates and trying to get the online play to actually run smoothly (or at all if you live in Australia). Once you have your female characters, then what? You'll still have very little in the game to do and then you'll complain about that.
