no female characters = no purchase

Post » Sun Nov 14, 2010 4:55 am

the last few hours i was checking up on reviews and youtube videos of this game in anticipation of purchasing it tomorrow, after sitting through the developers talking about how there is all these different options and customization in the game only to find out you can't even be a female character... got to be kidding me? seriously? how can you, with a straight face talk about options and customization when you can't even be the other gender out of 2.

as a guy who only plays female characters (i will play a guy character in very rare circumstances) in games you have lost a sale.
i refuse to support anyone who would not put the option for a female character in a game, which should be one of the first things you do... i tell you this to let you know you won't get my cash and for you to think next time when you are creating a game to actually include real options and customizations and not some poser attempt at it.

before some people say "it's not a big deal", well maybe to you it isn't but it's a big deal to some others.
and if you think "who cares about 1 purchase?".. i guess it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, it's not an attitude i would adopt as a game maker however to think a sale doesn't matter.

anyways, good day.
enjoy your game tomorrow.

You know... given the choice, I usually prefer to play as a female, but you're taking it a bit far....

Then enjoy other popular massive multiplayer FPS games that also don't have females.

Move on people. Nothing to see here.

You do realise your one person and there are 300,000 pre orders, your opinions practically mean nothing, And it does nto matter, CoD does not let you be a female and no one cared, it does nto matter.

sorry seems like a poor decision for such a little feature. playing as a girl is simply cosmetic and doesnt really matter in the grand scheme of things since brink is not a rpg

They'll probably end up adding female characters into the game eventually. mind you they'll need to do some work getting all the appearance items to fit on the female body types.
not really that big a deal, but it does make you wonder...where'd all them hoes gone?

The only time female characters matter is when you have to stare at your character's @$$ the 6 months you level up your toon. That isn't Brink .

If you are a guy, why do you like playing female characters?...
I'm legitimately curious, I don't mean this to be an insult

They talk about how it was a very difficult choice to make. Customization or females. they chose customization

I apologize for my rudeness but honestly, who cares? If they had the option to make female characters they would have, they even stated so, but considering the game was delayed due to balancing reasons for about a year, they didn't want to cut back the game again. Everybody acts like Splash Damage hates women or something

Then leave. You deny Splash Damage 50 bucks (Of which they make back in a tiny fraction of a second), and you deny yourself a revolutionary experience (which will probably never happen again ever, seeing how different it is from mainstream games.)

there is a legit reason to complain, being that this is a game which has thrown around the keywords of "options" and "customization" all across interviews, which is something not to take lightly when considering purchasing a game for 50 dollars.

i can't stand guys, can't stand their forms, their builds, the way they look in games and wouldn't enjoy my time with the game nearly as much as if it had the ability to have a female character.
so it's a pretty big issue to complain about.. if it comes down to buying the game or not buying it.

i'm saying don't go around saying you have options and customizations as a feature when you don't even have the very basis of it.
very misleading.

The hell?
Did you even hear the reason?
THEY DIDN"T HAVE TIME to make that much customization for both genders.
Multiply the amount of customization by 2.
That is twice as many textures and twice as many character models.
Go back to COD or something equally stupid yah idiot.

post 2 - By the way if you don't like a game, just don't play it. Especially if it's over some [censored] like this. Seriously, are you so terribly starved for attention you have to go to an online forum and cause problems just to get a little acknowledgement?

Maybe people ignore you cause you're annoying ;P

Anyway, take your [censored] elsewhere.

Couldn't have put it any better.

not like you get to see your character apart from the customization screen anyways.

the reason their is not female characters is because of the customization, they had to choose between adding females or having alot of customization, and in my opinion they chose right

OH, THIS TOPIC AGAIN

OP is clearly ignorant to the insanely hefty amount of extra work it takes to make female characters, and the extra stress it causes on memory. I'd rather the game came out this week and had all the male customization options, than SD appealing to a minority of the audience by making customization cuts and pushing release date back further.

Also, they can claim Customization as a selling point for this game. Because to be totally [censored] honest, I've only ever seen better customization on a PC MMO. The degree they have is a feat, especially for consoles.
