Female Daedric "Princes"

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 11:13 am

So, as you can see some of these Daedric lords are depicted as women yet referred to as princes - not princesses.

What's crackin' with that? I can see if the statues and whatnot are just physical representations of gods who don't have physical bodies, that it doesn't really matte if a Daedric Lord is male or female, but the fact that they're often referred to as princes confuses me. Do these godly beings have sixes or are they just beings that choose a physical manifestation orrrr what??? And if so, why call them princes? Is there a "king" Daedra?

They are neither male nor female. They choose how to appear.

Daedra are asixual. Their "gender" is only based on the form they take on Mundus.

They have no gender. They have no real form. They can choose to manifest however they want to manifest, if at all. That's why Azura appears as a girl, that's why Sheogorath appears as a guy, that's why Boethiah switches back and forth, and that's why Hermaeus Mora is a just lump with tentacles. They're all referred to as the masculine "Prince." There is no "King" because there is no hierarchy at play, and the "Prince" in this sense does not refer to royalty.

I'm not huge into the lore, but it would seem to me that calling them princes is just easier than saying princes and princesses. Sort of how we say "you guys"

Other languages use masculine tenses as sort of a catch all.

I think they have sixes, its unclear how they became daedric beings.

I'm sure someone will come in with a cheeky explanation in a moment.

Probably because he chooses too. But he kind of needs one for what he does...

In a world where lizards and cats both have a pair of pert mammary glands, I fail to see the big deal about the heiarchy of demons. Frankly, I'll call them whatever they want if they just leave me alone.

et'adrea (i think thats what they are called) were the first beings to come into existance, then the adrea produced mundas, teh deadra had no part in it and kept their pwoer because of it. deadra are basicly spirits, souls, they have physical manifestations but those are unimportant because they can be changed on a whim (and if they are destoryed they can be replced), they have no defiend gender other than what they want to be at that moment in time.

and to clear it up, deadra do have a hiarcy system based off of power (princes being the strongest, then it is demora clans i think (and each clan has a hierarchy of their own), then atronatches then comes the deeadroth [these being mindless], then clanfear [also mindless], then scamps [once again, mindless], but that is only the ones that were present in oblivion, im not sure how the other lesser deadra fit in, but hunger are most likely around deadroth, winged twilights/golden saints/dark seducers are around the dremora i think, it gets complicated with the mass ammount of deadra)

They take the forms they want, male, female, or neither.

For example, Boethia in Oblivion took the form as a male, Boethia in Skyrim took the form of a female (well, she didn't really take a form, but she spoke as a female.)
