female players

I wonder if we need to get in touch with the thread operator via AIM.

Some would consider me a 'real woman,' other's wouldn't. And hearing my voice is likely to skew people towards the latter.

I'm guessing around the same time we lose the stereotype that there are no nerd girls...

Ugh, AOL. Usenet doesn't have 'thread operators.'

I think most female gamers will prefer an MMO like Wildstar. I can see a lot of younger girl gamers liking the cartoony feel, and loveable characters in that game. Maybe the more mature, true fantasy loving girl will play ESO, but I think there's less of them out there.

Oh my god, who wears cardigans anymore? I thought the modern idea of a nerd girl was an urban hipster.

Partner of a male player? Well, I hope so. I got my husband into WoW, and now I'm trying to get him to leave WoW for ESO. :D

Is just another gaming sausage-fest! I figured there would be more women though; maybe like an 1-5 (woman to man) ratio?

Better than Cod, Battlefield or the new Titanfall coming up; all those shooters have like a 1-50 ratio >.>

Male Dwarves are the [censored]. I wonder how many women play Male Dwarves.

Actually I've always wondered how many women play male toons in general and just don't announce their gender to anyone for whatever reasons, Its only ever happened once to me but we had this one male dwarf in our guild who never spoke on vent and it was a couple months later before I ever even found out.

I met a lisbian couple when playing WoW... the thing is, they kept it a secret because one of them played a male character and never spoke on vent. They only told those they got closest with the truth.

I personally know a lot of female players that will be playing TESO, I also know that non of them would ever respond to a post like this as it is nothing but a guy trying to find girls to flirt with in game.

He can find us but he's not getting anywhere.

A census in a certain forum where people were actually playing ESO in large numbers showed around 28%-29% female players.

I'd go with that number or maybe a touch more (to allow for the difference in people who actually bought the game vs people invited to a closed beta).

Prob not however dosn′t mean that him and others won′t try, I′ve played my share of MMO′s and female players have OFTEN been harrassed and even one where it went to RL stalking thanks to people still having the attitude that online games are a male thing.
So most females don′t tell thier gender and honestly it dosnt matter when you game.

It comes out in voice chat programs like Ventrillo and Teamspeak anyway, not sure how else to hide it unless using a Darth Vader voice changer thingy :touched:

It's actually dumber to spring it on people in these voicechat apps so they have this moment of shock, than it seems to just be honest, pretty sure most females have a slightly different way of talking to others and dealing with people that also seems weird if you assume they're a guy.

I'm more interested in the psychological nuances. It is incredible what you can make guys do/say as a girl(allegedly). And if they let themselves be fooled by pretenders and end up being hurt I see it as a good lesson not to get involved with complete strangers over the internet. I've been fooled a few times myself, admittedly.

There is a woman who works at the gamestop by my home. She plans on playing, I was halfway to proposing to her when she said she was gonna get it for console.

Oh well, my wife might have gotten uppity to know my character was married to a RL woman I actually knew...

I've just had guys try to get all sixual and pervy on me. It's pretty horrible actually that some guys can't just see you as another gamer once they find out (had guild leaders get like this, guess they think they have some power and just try it on). This is why it's often better to be in a hardcoe guild where nobody gives a crap so long as you get the job done.

Don't understand, why it matters? My past experience with "women" in games has always been bad if they were women, You just see them nickling and dimeing every guy they meet and using them, Complete and utter doormats. I know of 2 girls who will be playing this game but I've talked them and decided to fight against me then with me they chose to go with Ebonheart, Just makes me want to find them and kill them both, Lol can't wait :D

Their behavior shows why they're most likely lonely. Being such a beta is pretty unattractive in both genders but it is especially unattractive in men, I find. Because we cannot competely escape gender roles as much as we like to strive for 'equality'. Some things are biologically determined to some degree.

Ah, nothing like discussing the odd habits of internet-dwelling misanthropes over a cup of tea in the morning. :D

It's made worse I think by the whole "rarity of females on the internet" thing - if people could just accept we're all here and not think of it as being anything particularly noteworthy we would have to deal with this random unnecessarily sixual behaviour a lot less. It's still even an issue in the real world workplace to some extent...I don't think society is as far ahead as it likes to think it is.

Society is just a thin veil over the behaviour of the animals we are

My Guild has a group named "Grievance Gamer Girls" (Grievance Guild). They are all awesome and I would group with anyone of them at any time. Grievance will have a large presents in ESO. Please look us up.

Well, yes, people are more open(and sometimes even more deceiving) on the internet for obvious reasons. Sometimes to their own detriment.

It has been a while since I've directly heard anybody complain about these things as I don't play that many online games these days as I used to during my teens. Perhaps we're beating a dead horse here? I would have thought this whole craze over women on the internet has passed over the past years.

No it hasn't passed at all, if you read some of the comments above you can see people still think we a) don't exist b.) are really guys if we say we exist and c) exploit our femaleness (probably while still being a guy) to get loot. The issue is far from resolved, as far as guys go they think they still own the internet. Same as real world - things are still a mess as far as gender relations goes, it's just very subtle (and males tend to notice it far less, being the ones in power as it has been for thousands of years).
