Could they not use the wrist slot?
Such a glove would still need to make use of the hand animations (fingerless still implicates attachment to a hand); such attachment to the wrist biped does not work (tried it and such results in a static hand sticking out from the wrist or a horrible clipping effect). In the past, such has been accomplished by making gloves whose fingers are textured for specific races and using scripts to activate which one would be used (by the player's race of choice). Typically, though, this does not take into account modded races; who could anticipate all the possible races in use by a certain player? What I would do is make a glove with "race"/skin textured fingers for each of the stock races (save for the lighter skinned humans/Breton, Imperial, Nord; for these I would make a texture that is the median of all of them and be done with it
). Then I would make one that was all leather (for those that might not use a stock race). As this is more of an archer's glove rather than a fingerless glove, more skin would be necessary (so perhaps the BB hands can be incorporated in some way so as to simulate the glove (rather than using a glove mesh alone; saves a bit of texture work if one part points to the BB textures already
).
