That's what she said.

Gonna have to give it a read through.

But from the title, its not just about female gamers wanting to play as females.

I'd like to see females in the game because when little kids play the game it enforces the idea that women can do what men do, aka men can suit up and shoot bad guys, so can females.

But I guess if the story is your a male and there are females in the game who are holding their own, then its all good I guess

 It doesnt matter if I want or dont want little kids to play the game.

I always wonder how much of an influence Laura Croft has had on my attraction/thing for strong and independent women.

Wow, sorry but, are you simply playing ignorant for the sake of discussion? That we want kids to play the game or not wouldn't change a thing, they still will. What CAN change is what they get out of playing said game, what influence the game does or does not have on their view of life.

For example, while the GTA series was very popular, I condone the way that, apparently, women are portrayed as little more than cattle in most of those. Does it make the game accurate? Most likely. Does it give a good image of women to all the young boys playing the game? Most definitely not. Should they even BE playing the game? Of course not, but it's not like we can prevent them from playing it anyway, right?

Ugh, I hate games that try to push contemporary societal mores. Not saying that was necessarily the case with Tomb Raider, but I can see how one might be influenced in such a way, which is fine. It should have also taught you that women are impossible to control, too. :D

Anyway, OT: Does anyone know if female NPCs have been confirmed one way or the other?

I lol'd
bear in mind that art forms always explore contemporary social mores. One of the reasons games are still considered toys for childeren by politicians and whatnot is because they're too often just mindless kill-a-thon's that do explore nothing risky or provoke a single challenging thought. I think it's a good thing to be controversial, and I don't mean just with violence.

Oh, for sure. And I think that's great. It's one of the big draws of Brink for me, actually. But there's a difference between exploration and pushing. It's the pushing that irritates me.

to get back on this topic though, i think no women is a good thing and a tough decision, one hand if you add the Fem chars 80% will be dudes + lots of clothing and models AND voices so ditching it saves tons of time and money for game-play and graphics, another good point i mentioned earlier is the fact that even the US military say's "man woman who cares just shoot"<(more or less) so whether your a guy or a girl it shouldn't be a problem , though i guess they could a made all chars a girl but...Female+Heavy=Wrongness :yucky: ,so in short i think we should be a little more supportive of SD's choice instead of yelling for DLC or BRIINK.

SD has stated they regret not being able to put women in the game. It svcks, but a main selling point for Brink is the Customization. It's not something they can afford to cut back on.

I assume that:

A ) Brink will do well. Probably a metacritic of between 80-95%. (Pulling these numbers from thin air.)

B ) That with this success that SD will want to make Brink 2, or another Class based shooter.

C ) And that with this next game they will create playable female characters.

Until that time, we're probably out of luck. :(

Let's hope these assumptions turn out to be true.

Really? were still going on about this? Its done with, there will be no females and probably no female addon.

I rather have more options of cusomizations then have females in game, ITS NOT A BIG DEAL, imn getting really sick of seeing these topics all the time, and adding females just to teach children that woman can do what men do is the dumbist thing i ever heard, its a VIDEO GAME, its not like its teaching people that woman are lower class people,

Just stop with this, its done with and it wont be changed and there will be no addon, a addon or update after the game is released is dumb, theres no point so just drop all of this. Geez...

Lets get this once and for all! No women to play as even though most guys would want to so they can have something nice to look at when they customize her.

It's never going to die. New people are learning about the game daily. I wouldn't count on it not coming up ever again anytime soon.

most of us that are on these forums have been on forums for new games before i think the best thing to do is to direct new people in a polite way and now tell them to "use search you noob" so that this game can really take off not just from its amazing gameplay but also from is good community
