Females wearing male armor?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:34 pm

Is there a mod where female characters (PCs and NPCs) wear male versions of all armor in the game (since I don't like the stereotypical "briast/boob armor" found in most games such as this one)?

no, but you can do it yourself by replacing the female cuirass meshes with the male versions. This is a brute force method: it'd be much easier (and smaller) to do it in the CS, when it's out.

I'm not sure how it'll react to the rescaling weight feature--and actually, it's likely to give you male arms and torsos unless you manually edited the .nifs, which would require Nifskope to be updated.

...I must say, this is different from the usual grain of Female Armour requests these days.

That mod should be easy to make once we have the toolset, and a bit more tedious just using TESsnip. (Simply delete the nif entry for females)

Light armor is okay, but there are also a lot of clothes that turn into gowns when a woman wears them. Variation is the key here. You should have the option to wear "normal" armor as well as one custom made for your cup size, and when a man loots a woman for her custom made armor, he shouldn't first take a hammer and flatten the boobs, and if he puts on a woman's gown it shouldn't magically turn into a suit.

Aesthetics aside, an armor should be tight fitting and comfortable, unflexible armor for females needs extra space for female assets. This extra space doesn't need to be formed anatomically correct, though. Realistically seen, it's wise for a female soldier to blend with her male comrades. And while we're at it, men should wear skirts to keep their testicles on operating temperature, while women should wear pants to protect their shorter urinary tract from infections.

Of course this is another problem which I was going to say if anyone could edit the male armors and make them proportionally fit on females (like they still have female torsos/arms).

Well, at a first glance it doesn't look so bad when you aren't afraid of female bodybuilders.

On the second glance there are issues like the neck not being completely textured in this shot.

I have to second this thread. I wish the modders would do something like this not the usual "increase cleavage and make holes in the armors for swords to go through" stuff.
Though that said the heavy armor is mostly fine but the light armor on female is quite disturbing to look at.

Yep I think the male versions of the heavy armors is what I was talking about and if someone could make them fit in a female body proportionally.

Why would this be necessary? Most of the female versions of armor in this game are quite believable with the exception of some more primitive sets like the forsworn and that one variant of the fur armor.

Most of the armors have that nasty boob plate going on.

Yes, yes, yes, this definitely needs to be made. The Elder Scrolls series, including this game, is a lot better than most RPGs out there when it comes to this, and it's something I very much appreciate, but I wouldn't mind the few remaining inconsistencies fixed, if only because I think it's silly for clothing / armour to change when you loot it anyway. :P

To be fair, if we're talking about the same fur armour, that set doesn't cover the upper body at all on men, so it's not exactly making it skimpier. That, of course, leaves open the question of whether that set should be included in a mod like this... though I suppose it's only fair for it to be...

So you're saying clothing and armour in Tamriel is only made for males? Interesting.

Well, I don't mind the "boob plates" as such: perhaps they're aesthetic in some sense, but if female clothing is different from male clothing, why can't female armor be the same? That said, it's funny to loot a man and get some armor with boobs on it. I don't think that's a problem we can fix without making two copies of every armor set, and hand-editing every NPC :P

I'm saying that I don't think clothing and armour in Tamriel suddenly morphs when a man / woman picks it up. That, and armour made for a woman, or for that matter unisix armour, if made for actual fighting, wouldn't look all that much different from "male" armour anyway (at least the heavier and more rigid kind); probably the only reason we think of it as "male" anyway is because warriors in medieval Europe were traditionally men. It's less a matter of fitting body type and more a matter of what actually works for protection. Two protrusions on the chest, in particular, don't work, because that would guide a blow directly towards the vital organs in the chest (like the heart, it's usually bad when that gets hit). One going all across the chest would work and did appear on real Renaissance-era armour, but should appear on male armour (like it historically did) as well if you're going to use it.

No thanks. Enough games and movies make warrior-like women look like they're going to an orgy instead of a battle.

I'm hoping for female mannequins. I'm sure someone will mod them, but the one's that come with the houses (although very functional) are no fun for a female toon.

What's so "nasty" about it? Do briasts offend you?

This is a video game with a fantasy setting, visual differentiation and aestheticism takes priority over realism.

I support this idea. I'm not offended by skin or briasts, but I would still like to have some more reasonable looking armor in the game. As it stands, most of the female variant of light armors are ridiculous.

Yes briasts offend me. ... Nah I'm kidding. Nasty was a exaggeration, I just prefer my female armor without boob plates.

And don't get me wrong. I'm not holding this against Bethesda or anything it's just what I prefer. I understand that six sells and most people would like it to go other way (as is seen in tesnexuses most used mods). But as we all know TES games are very moddable and I was just agreeing and letting know that this sort of thing would have it's users and supporters. I like my female warrior to look strong and in my opinion boob plates and unnecessary sixualization takes away from that.

I'm not offended by bare skin and such, but I do agree certain sets of armour tend to be...impractical.

I'm pretty sure that when crafting armor for women, accommodations are made for their superior assets. :hubbahubba:

What's wrong with the female armors? Aren't their male counterparts just as skimpy?
