Fencing Idea

I can say that I really like the settlement building stuff. I'm a huge Skyrim fan and can see that a lot was pulled from there.

I am seeing issues with the attaching of some of the walls for building and the fencing has a major issue with leaving gaps.

The walls with over hangs don't seem to match up well with most of the other walls but I haven't really played with that much to get a great feel of them.

As for the fencing the current work around of putting the fence on a map and then moving the mat is kind of ridiculous just to get rid of gaps. But I have a solution for an update.

My idea for the developers is to have the fences snap like the walls but once snapped allow the right bumper, or R2? on PS4, to be held and thus locking the snap while the left joystick controls rotation around that snap vertices. This could also be done for bridges to allow bridges to be used to lead to different levels of different targets. So fences could then be created without gaps, much faster, and in more than 90 degree angles. I wouldn't do this for walls since the floor tiles are square.

I would also make the fencing ghost through other items while snapped so that gaps from uneven surfaces are eliminatedoing too.

What do you guys think?

Also have an option to lock the X & Z axis while moving on the Y axis and I'm down. Floating fences because of hills are stupid.

If the right bumper locked the snap of the fences then the only rotatable axis would be the Y axis. But your comment made me think that holding both bumpers while snapped could allow movement on the X axis while locking the others so that adjusting for terrain could be sort of helped.

Aaa, the supriority of PC! Had a mod that does that for a long time now. So if they dont patch it in you can hope for it to come to console sometime in the distant future.

On an off-topic note I wonder how much their promise of mods for consoles increased sales? Probably much. Hoped it wouldnt be possible so there would be more PC sales so there could be less of this clunky UI, key bindings etc. Perhaps the messy workshop building would feel better as well.
