A Few Bugs in Mods, Looking for a Fix

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:01 am

So I installed FOMM, Enhanced Weather, Dynamic Weather, Fellout, and MTC Wasteland Travelers yesterday. I am completely new to mods but I did manage to get them all up and running. However, I came across a few bugs since then and was hoping someone could help.

The first one involves radiation being ineffective. No matter what I do, I cannot become irradiated in any way. I am pretty sure this has something to do with the weather mods. Help?

The second bug effects (as far as I can tell) only Rivet City. The entire game script is in English except for when I come to the doors for the Market, Stairwell, and the individual decks. I approach the doors and it gives me the command to open the door but in a different language. Again, help?

Things to note: 1. When I activated Enhanced Weather in FOMM, it gave me an error about needing a script that was not there. I continued any way and things seem to be working ok. 2. Although I downloaded and ran Fellout for a little bit, I am no longer running it and it is deactivated on FOMM. I put it in the list just in case that had something to do with it.

Thanks in advance :)

You'd probably have more luck getting help if you post your load order.

The radiation problem might be caused by Enhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.esp. Not sure,

The language problems at Rivet City are definitely caused by MTC Wasteland Travellers, though. I believe the author was Italian working with an Italian version of the game, hence the different language contained in his mod.

Anyway, as for your load order, you might have better luck with something like this:

[x] Fallout3.esm
[x] Anchorage.esm
[x] ThePitt.esm
[x] BrokenSteel.esm
[x] Point Lookout.esm
[x] Zeta.esm

[x] Mart's Mutant Mod.esm
[x] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esm
[x] Xepha's Dynamic Weather.esm

[x] Night Vision Sunglasses.esp
[x] Realistic Death Physics.esp

[x] MTC Wasteland Travellers.esp
[ ] MTC Wasteland Travellers (Optional)- Crowded Cities.esp
[x] MTC Wasteland Travellers (Optinal)- Crowded Cities less NPCs.esp (use only one of these crowded cities esp's)

[x] Mart's Mutant Mod.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp
[ ] Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp
[x] Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp

[ ] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp - don't use *1
[?] Enhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.esp - may cause "problems" with radiation :o
[?] Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp - your choice
[?] Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp - your choice

[x] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Main.esp

[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Anchorage.esp
[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - The Pitt.esp
[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Broken Steel.esp
[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Point Lookout.esp
[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Rain.esp
- *1 use this instead ;)

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't activate all you DLC, so I would recommend going back and grabbing my DLC plugins. I'd also recommend exchanging the Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp with Dynamic Weather - Rain.esp ;)

I will definitely try that out :) I didn't have the DLC activated because I had wanted to beat the main story first. Stupid reason yes, but I'll activate them now. Also, the only way to fix the Rivet City problem is to remove MTC Wasteland Travelers?

Ah, in that case you might want to try adding one of these to your load order:

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5253

~or~

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8416

Those (use only one) prevent the DLC from popping up messages and adding quests announcing that your DLC has (rather unsubtly) been added.

And, other than editing MTC Wasteland Travelers, then the only "fix" would be to remove it - but i think the foreign language only appears at Rivet City, worth putting up with while you have fun with the travellers. :)

Ok, as long as it only effects Rivet City then I can deal with it. I'll definitely try one of those DLC mods. One other thing before I post seeing as you've been so nice, Xepha, is there a load order tutorial/guide around that you could link me to?

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/972878-fallout-3-mods-faq/ is as good a place to start as any I guess. (A sticky at the top of this forum.)

But a lot can be learned from Arwen's excellent website at http://amito.freehostia.com/Fallout/FO-mods.htm - well worth spending some time investigating her load order, mods and general mod advice.

I also like Kai Hohiro's Video Install Guide here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13111

May as throw a mod list your way as well while I'm at it: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1056342-mezs-gameplay-and-immersion-mod-list/

Have fun! :D

Thank you so much, Xepha. I've been so caught up in looking at different mods that I haven't gotten around to booting up the game to let you know if your fixes worked. I'll be sure to do so when I can though :)

Alright, so I just started it up and the radiation thing has been fixed. There are a few new problems though....

I noticed though that the Wasteland Traveller mod also effects Moriarty's Saloon. How hard would it be to edit the mod myself? Second, MMM seems to be working fine but I'm guessing that it is the reason the Brahmin outside of Doc Church's has glitchy textures. Third, I installed EVE but it seems to not be working on Harkness' gun. When I select it in the Pipboy it says that the file is not found... Finally, I was going to add some mods to MMM (Blowfly, Deathclaw and Radscorpion) but they say they need scripts in order to install properly. That error came up with the Enhanced Weather mod and that's working fine but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
