FIFA 11

Post » Sun Mar 27, 2011 6:31 pm

I know there are a few people on here who enjoy a bit of FIFA. People queued in their droves at midnight (well, probably not) to buy it, while I just got a mate who works in Game to get me it after uni yesterday. I've not played it enough to fully appreciate the new features yet, but it seems to be up at the same high standard as last year's version. Anyone else got it yet? Anyone playing online? I got a rage quitter in only my second game! I also tried out the goalkeeper mode... Lots of standing around doing nothing, not being able to make out a thing of what goes on up the pitch.

Is it worth getting on release? I thought 09 and 10 were awesome, but not worth full price. Especially since they'll be obsolete and virtually no one online in a year.

I got it for £30, but that was with staff discount. The supermarkets are all doing offers on it here as well though.

I probably won't get it this time. I played FIFA 10 for the first time in about 6 months the other day and I'll play games less this year than next year so I don't think it'd be worth it. Also, hopefully someone else will have it at Uni so I can leech off of them instead :P

When I played World Cup that happened a lot when you first start to play.

I'm going to try to get it here soon. There's a lot of games coming out and I'm having to get one or two here and there. As soon as I get it, I'll be playing online.

Hmm, I was totally outplaying some guy, and I'd hit the post/bar about 10 times, but it was still 0-0 in the ~75th minute. He got one good counter-attack and scored. About halfway through the replay the connection was lost. I've never had anyone rage quit their own win before :P

Is there any interest here in starting up an online league? I was going to look into doing one for FIFA 10, but saw that FIFA 11 was really close to release and forgot about it.

I'd totally be up for that. I'm not great - more solidly average - but I could probably hold my own.

I had gotten to a point where I could compete on FIFA 10, which I was proud of, because FIFA isn't like your typical sports game.

Picked it up on release day for $20 (buddy working at EA :P )...great game as was FIFA 10. The added personalities definitely makes a difference for a lot of the players. Players that I'm acccustomed doing great crosses with in FIFA 10, but in the real world really svck doing it....actually svck doing it in FIFA 11. :P The game does feel a bit slower paced than FIFA 10 but I think there's a mode to speed things up or something.

Great game for a bunch of friends to get together and duke out. The openess of play possibilities is awesome....nothing scripted here.

I should hopefully get my copy tomorrow (or failing that, Monday). I doubt I'll be playing online much though, I generally stick to manager mode in Fifa games.

Anyone got Pro Evo? I used to play that until last year but I decided Fifa was better this time. I should try the demos...

Me. However since I've got 20,000 posts on an internet forum called "PESFan.com" I know how the Fifa vs PES threads turn out, so I decided not to post anything. Well until you asked that is. :D

Yeh i got it this morning, my thumbs are bleeding already.

It's very different from 10, taking a bit of getting used to. The speed of the passes and how the players turn and move are the biggest changes, moves that I could easily execute in 10 are no longer effective in 11, which is good in a way I guess. Currently playing as Blackpool in the Premiership on Legendary, it's a pretty steep challenge at the moment. Considering I could only afford to sign Anton Ferdinand and Hendry Thomas from Wigan, my squad svcks ass.

I am having absolutely no luck online at all just now. The people I am beating all quit early, most of the others aren't too great either, but my players just aren't producing right now. All the simplest passes are going to the other team. Nothing to do with the changes in gameplay either, since I'm doing fine in career mode. I have just come up against a guy with Celtic as his favourite team though, so if I don't win this...

EDIT: Lost 2-1... I ripped him to shreds and went 1 up in the 4th minute. He then proceeded to take advantage of not one but two "long" clearances which were just driven across my goal, straight to his strikers' feet. I'm my own worst enemy.

I really like the diversity of the game modes. The online virtual pro is pretty damn cool and of course the career mode is fun.I started a manager career with the Philadelphia Union and added myself as a forward.

Yeah, I'm player-manager at Rangers. Started off as a forward, but been converted to a defender until I get enough defensive accomplishments for the bullet header (or whatever it's called) trait. Been playing on pro, but thinking of upping it to world class to get at the advanced accomplishments.

Ouch! :P

I wish the defensive accomplishments didn't HAVE to be done playing in defence. Most of the tackling is done in midfield, so I'm lucky to get 5 tackles in a match, let alone 15! Unless I just play a game with 20 minute halves...
