Well, it clearly wasn't Howards fault.

Well too bad they couldn't win. Howard should be given a soccer medal for keeping them in the game for so long. Honestly, Belgium deserved the win.

Overall, Belgium was the better team. Secondly, US worst enemy was not Belgium but themselves. They missed several clear opportunities to score, specially one which the saying goes, "it was harder to kick it out than to kick it in". And miss opportunities, in any sport, can come back to haunt you.

Here, here.

While I give team USA credit where it's due, Klingsman could have made a few better calls, and the players should've taken a few more risks.

Fortunately, Klinsmanns master plan dictates that this is the year for the team to become familiar with each other and the next one will be the competitive one. 2018 will be our year! :D

It svcks that they couldn't have some of their players due to injury or penalties. Maybe it would have gone differently if Dreads man was in there and if Josey Altidore and Fabien Johnson didn't get hurt.

Frankly, the US woke up in the last 10 minutes of the game. They did more in those ten minutes than in the entire game.

England should take note from the U.S, play with the determination they had in those last 10 minutes. That's what we're missing.

Likewise Belgium shouldn't be afraid of Argentina after their showing today.

What?! Underrated by who? :P

I don't know who you're listening to. They won their first 3 games against a weak group, but there's absolutely no frigging way in all hell you can say they played to the level they were capable of with as much talent as they have on that roster. Today is the first game of the tournament where they showed what everyone knew they were capable of. Damn Belgium. Why you have to pick this game to get your crap together?

Ah well. It was fun seeing Tim Howard play out of his mind. Fun seeing him go up against Mirallas and Lukaku. Lukaku finally showed up. (Wish there was some chance of seeing him back at Everton next season.)

I have to say the US defense was worlds better than I thought they would be coming into the tournament. If they could find that difference-maker, a genuine # 10 or something besides Altidore, they'll do well going forward.

If it weren't for Howard, the score would have been 8-1.

So did Belgium. With the number of excellent chances Belgium had, it should have been at least 2-0 before the 90 minutes were out. With the exception of the goalkeeper, the USA performed rather poorly. Until the last 15 minutes, those were very impressive.

Still, best defense is a good offense, and that's what the US lacked. Same concept I was preaching with the Germany-Algeria game: yes Algeria did outstanding on defense, but no, that won't work because eventually one is gonna get through.

I don't mind seeing Belgium continuing this tournament anymore, because now they were very entertaining and skilled! They did everything else exceptionally well except for scoring and defending those late US chances. Another epic thriller towards the end, what a World Cup this has been!
