I didn't mind Oblivion's it was pretty nice but it did get a tad boring, also not being able to loot your victims was a bit disappointing, I'd be more inclined to believe Skyrim would have like Makeshift arenas/fighting circles etc where you could fight for money (And items)

I don't think that an Arena like the one in the IC would really fit in Skyrim. I'm more for bar brawls, and informal fights in the middle of villages.

I tihnk they could include an arena where you could bet and fight whilst not in a storyline. This place should also include a storyline where you start off fighting in some kind of arena, but then at some point it should take a turn for the worse and somehow throw you on some epic journey

I could see an arena in one of the more Imperialized cities in Skyrim (if there are any, I've no idea) as the people they're at least partially based off of (the Romans) built arenas in their more civilized provinces. Good for keeping the masses occupied.

First, I don't want the arena because:

1) I though tthe Arena in OB was pretty lame, especially the final reward (but those coudl be improved)
2) Skyrim isn't modeled after the Roman/Dark Ages/castle age, which is where the Arena seems to fit
3) There a civil war! People have better things to do with their time! (of course, having 99 Oblivion gates open and monsters roaming around didn't really seem to affect much, did it

If it's in, I'd like:
1) less of a Colusium feel
2) more variety in the kinds of oponents (Hurray, onother melee fighter! Good thing I'm a nimble archer)
3) better rewards

Guess the one thing that I did like was...I forgot his name...the guy in the corner who called me maggot. One of the truely original personalities and dialogue lines in the game :)

perosnally I invisino a potential arena as some kind of dirt pit where nords throw themselves at eachother with wild fury, and a lot less "Welcome! to the IMPERIAL Arena!" ugh, just thinking about tha tmakes me a ill

Oh, mosh pit! ;)

And that brings up another thing, more variety in the kinds of oposing combat.
"Holy crap! that bastard just body slammed me!"
"Holy crap! I'm being body passed! (hey! watch where your hands go!)"

And I don't really care if I can't to those moves. Just give me something original and varied :)

The idea behind having an arena is great, however I thought Oblivion's was boring. It was far too easy and far too short. I didn't notice an increase in difficulty as I rose through the ranks and there was very little reason to ever go back once I became the champion aside from the gold.

Unfortunately, I don't have the creative juices to suggest a better way to do it, but I'm sure that Bethesda wants to and can come up with a better implementation.

This is what I want, like in the movie gladiator I want small local arenas att first. You have to take on a journey across skyrim and fight your way to the huge arena. And when your reputation is big enough you can get access to the real deal, fighting against really powerful opponent. And another thing that would be cool, night fights in the arena. During night fight you can fight unique creatures like captured vampires and werewolves :D

For me, I want to fight opponents that are trained in the same weapons. So it's fist to fist, sword to sword, shield to shield.

I want it to be drunk, disorderly, and bloody as all hell >=)

The crowd should be vicious and you should be able to use more types of armour. And as you get further up in the ranks, there should be parties down in the bloodwords whenever you win, with grog and live musicians and such :D how awesome would that be?!

I just want to pick fight at bars this time without worrying about the following
1. Killing them with my fist
2. Guard coming when its a pub as if someone called 911
3. chasing after the [censored] to do the top 2..

Just want the option to K/O someone take their gold, they get back up have a negative effect on the relation between him and his friends then finish my mead and go on my marry way.
A more vivid system like Gothic 3 had would be nice as well, a small arena/training ground in each town basically for training you talk to the guard you can fight their most fearsome guards and you engage in battle not to the death all the time just until they surrender/give up.

If Skyrim does not have an Arena then... well... it would not be realistic. The Nords are a more warlike people than the Imperials so I would be surprised if they did not have arena battles. It won’t be as grand as the Imperial Arena battles, more gritty and challenging I hope.

I hope the Arena is privately owned instead of all goverment sanctioned like in Oblivion, so all types are welcome and it can get rowdy as hell. It would be cool if there were a grandmaster who lives at the Arena and has his own security :D sort of a mob boss, and you can do work for him outside of the arena battles and become his right-hand man. But I'm dreaming xD

1) If things were removed because they weren't done well previously we wouldn't have a very interesting series. Fix it, don't remove it.
2) Lore-wise they already have an Arena, if I can find a link to the quote I'll post it.
3) Everyday life doesn't end because of war, not even a civil war. Not everyone is a soldier.

That being said if they do put it in I agree with the stuff you said on improving it, the stuff I didn't include in quotes.

1) yep, that's why I had the parenthetical
2) my ignorance
3) ummmm depends on the scope of the war? (ya, grasping at straws). For some reason I picture Skyrim as one big warzone, not really a place with a "front line", rear area, or home front where an Arena type thing could take place.

Pick-up matches between warriors..ya, I can see that. Ohhhh that could even develop into a longer questline than the Grey Prince. Gain a companion, befriend, fight battles alongside..then have to battle in an impromptu Arena...what will you do? Of course, that'd require adding depth of character to the companion...

Now go away...quit making me think! ;)

You see fable showed a perfect example of how i would arenas. I would want to have Arena's like in Fable where you and maybe a selected ally would battle against monsters increasing in difficulty every round, then i would also like a arena where you battle npcs and a figthing circle or brawling like in The Witcher and Fable. i would also like to be able to go back to the arena after finishing it and keep battling new challengers, or new captured monsters.

Personally, I'd think with a civil war, all the able body people (arena combatants, for instance) would either feel obligated to fight in the war or be forced to. In the middle of a war, and combatants kill each other in an arena. I don't buy it.
If they do make an arena, that'd be great, I just don't think they can make it work realistically.

Edit: Actually, they could if they made it so that the arena would pit the different factions against each other, like pitting Caesar's Legion against the NCR, but then how would you fit in there, you'd have to choose a side, which I'm not sure we have that choice.

I think that was because of the level scaling.
