fight in the war?

Will we be able to fight in the war, between the imperial and the rebels?

And can someone give me the backstory to why the war takes place?

People are assuming you will take part in this as part of the main quest, although I don't THINK it's been confirmed(?).

Yes, you fight in it.You can join the legion or the Storm Cloaks.

People are assuming you will take part in this as part of the main quest, although I don't THINK it's been confirmed(?).

Main quest (Alduin,Dovahkiin) and the civil war (Storm Cloaks,Battle Born) are two separate things,how do i know that? achievements.
