Fighters and magic

Post » Wed Oct 12, 2011 8:19 am

Greeting's to all on the forum.

I was just wondering if pure fighters will be able to survive without restoration?
For RP purposes i dont like to use any magic - healing/buffs when i play as a fighter.

In Oblivion for example i just used to buy potions for my healing which was tough to start with but got easier as i levelled my armour class and took less damage. It also made finding quality healing potions in dungeons a good reward.

So,do you think fighters without magic will be viable in Skyrim?

Edit:Shocking spelling

Yes, I'm sure that's an option, there not going to not put in potions so you can't use them, but from what we've heard its super handy to have a healing spell just in case, but if you don't use magic then potions are always an option, how much they cost though could be a problem.

You should be able to. Obviously there's a benefit to being able to magic your injuries away but with health regen included it should be more doable than previously. Although personally I'll want to disable health regen if I do a character who can't use magic, I'm unsure how fast it is, but it doesn't really fit with the "I can't use any magic" thing. I suppose I'll have to wait and see how hard the game is without it before deciding.

Thanks for the replies lads.

Buying potions was damn expensive in Oblivion but i enjoyed the whole 'preparing for a dungeon raid' scenario beforehand. Also, once i'd made a decent bit of money it became less of a problem and acted as a good money sink when i became wealthy.

I would'nt mind a slow health regen tbh based on endurance for example as i'd class that as a warriors ability to recouperate. As long as it's not too fast or unbalanced i would be happy with that.

With alchemy you can probably make plenty of health pots for yourself.

Good man :)

We'll probably get ten shades knocked out of us to start with but i always found it quite satisfying to survive and prosper on the physical, weapon and armour attributes alone.

I hated the fact that in Oblivion they started every character off with fire and restoration magic, especially considering I couldn't delete any spells due to that stupid glitch. It totally put me off playing as a warrior TBH, so I always played as a mage. I hope they don't start off our warriors with magic like they did before. It'll probably be the deciding factor if I play a Nord warrior or Imperial Mage for my first playthrough.

That's why
Player.setav Intelligence 0
was the best for non-mages. Although it always made me feel a little stupid... :(
(And obviously relies on a PC).

Indeed, never really tried it but i shall since i have a huge inherent distrust for magic and most 'o it's users!

I seriously hope we start without anything unwanted this time around!
