Fighters Guild Rat Quest

Post » Thu Sep 23, 2010 3:10 am

In Morrowind, one of your first fighters guild quests was to kill rats infesting a woman's basemant in Balmora.
In Oblivion, they put a twist on it by forcing you to PROTECT the woman's rats in Anvil.
What do you think should be the next incarnation of the ever-present rat's quest or do you think they will forget about it all together?

You have to do both at the same time. Save some rats who need protection from the Mickey Mouse Mob.

I expect they'll reference old quests but put a new twist on it so maybe TES V: The Arena pillow fights.

I would prefer they stick with rats, the fighters guild rat quest has been around since at least Daggerfall.

I'd say keep the rats. They've became iconic for the TES FG opening quest line.

In DA: O they even made a comment in the Human Noble origin about rats and how they seem to start an adventure tale. Which I immediately thought of TES.

The quest should be helping rats exterminate the Fighter's Guild. Because the rats the less obnoxious faction in the last two TES games.

Rat killing with infinite attempts; great as grunt works for the Fighter Guild because the Fighter Guild sound so much better than Pest Control.

Rather than save or kill rats, the quest should involve breaking up an illegal rat fighting ring. You have the option of euthanizing the rats, trying to find a proper owner, and maybe even taking one for yourself.

Have it so that, if you kill the rats, there's an alternative ending where the antagonist wins. The rats were the only thing holding the bad guys back from their full, true power.

Black rats have infested town. Either go on a long hunt and completely exterminate them (they can also spread diseases on you) or drive them away by helping the brown rats kill the black rats?

To help the brown rats you need like fortify strength on other on them and then there will be this ultimate battle (to make this happen put some cheese on the road) on the streets with like 20 rats attacking eachother!

I'd like another rat saving mission, but this time include and expand upon the pack rat concept from Morrowind. In MW you could buy rats in Mournhold that would follow you around and carry items, but they were limited to just Mournhold and couldn't travel elsewhere. Basically, next time around, it would be cool if after saving the rats from whatever was threatening them, you'd be able to choose one as a pet/pack rat and he would follow you through the rest of the game, keeping you company/carrying stuff (maybe he could even have some fighting skill like Obliv. horses). Of course you could always leave him at home in you wanted.

Sort of the dog concept from Fable 2, except with a really large rat as your travelling buddy... :celebration:
