Fighting Alduin

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:34 pm

I mean in oblivion we got to play a Hero with repetitive time consuming task's, Only to find out that you practically aren't the main character but a side kick. I personally DID NOT like turning into an npc at the end of the game while Martin(Who couldn't even defend himself) finished off the Final Boss of the game for you by turning into a badly modeled phoenix/dragon while you become known as the Hero who helped Martin become the saviour of Cyrodill. In Skyrim I would actually like to fight Alduin at his biggest, baddest, and best. But I'm just curious as to how you guys/gals would like the battle against Alduin to go? Do you want Akatosh to step in and take your glory for defeating himself or would you like to get physical with the world eater?

I want to fight Alduin but with other NPC. Like New Vegas, for those who've played it- you fight the enemy with NPC's/factions that you've joined or gained good noteriety with.

Can anyone even imagine how a fight with Alduin would go?

In Oblivion you were helping the Septims...in Skyrim, you are the Septim of the story. Meaning you will be in Winterhold when the dragons start attcking, then some hero strolls in, defeats the dragons, and saves you so you can later on fulfil your destiny. You will be voiced by Sean Bean. If you catch my drift.

If your turn into another NPC, then it would no longer be an NPC.

And why would you want to watch someone fight your fight?

When I say turn into an npc I mean becoming useless like those generic megaton settler's or the newly generic skyrim inhabitants who do nothing to help the situation and are only good for killing and leveling up lol.

Chose other.

The reason for this are the different playstyles. While I don't care whether the final boss or any boss actually is Alduin, the game should allow for a variety of ways to defeat them.

For instance, if you play a thief or any other sort of character that doesn't focus on fighting, there should be indirect approaches. But I do want to do it myself.

Personally, I'd rather have an OPTION not to fight. What if my character isn't combat-oriented? Not even a little bit? What if she's a manipulator and mind-controller who rarely even pulls out her weapon and instead relies on Rage and Command to get her through dungeons and persuasion whenever possible to solve other problems? Why would she be pitted against the same challenge as some big hairy barbarian with a horny helmet? For her, it would only mean losing as soon as the big bad appears, punishing me for making a "wrong" type of character, and I'd hate that.

So options. Options for everyone, please.
