Fighting vault fires

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 7:38 pm

So I had a vault fire just a little bit ago (surprise surprise right) and thought how awesome it would be if there was a sprinkler system to douse the fire and put it out quickly like in real life. I haven't worked out all the bugs yet on how size and upgrades will affect it but basically once installed it'll cover so many rooms around it and once a fire breaks out in one (or many rooms for people like me with a lot of dead rooms to spread to) you can tap the room and choose to extinguish the fire via sprinklers. The catch is that it would take water directly from your overall supply so it's not to easy and cheap. Or you can choose to fight fires the good old fashioned way. Either way I thought this up and would think it cool and helpful to see down the road for bigger vaults.

It seems that the fire and radroach emergencies are getting severer and harder to fight in larger merged room and more upgraded room. It is counter-intuitive.

Upgrading or merging rooms should make such emergency easier to handle. On the contrary, it get harder.

For emergency in empty room, it is generally better not try to extinguish. Dispatching dwellers to the empty room in fire takes much longer time to extinguish than leaving the fire burn out without any intervention. Trying to handle emergency on empty room is counter productive.

The game mechanism of emergency in this game is severely broken and irrational and does not add any fun or worthy challenge or compensation. It needs complete re-design from ground up.

Maybe they provide some improvement with the next version (which adds some new types of emergencies like deathclaws and mole rats) ...

That would be agreeable.

Super mutants deathclaws and molerats would be pretty cool and I don't know if anyone watches their dwellers talk but I've noticed talk about pets and robots. I would think it pretty sweet to be able to find dogs in the wastes and bring them back as pets. Another cool feature would be mr handy/gutsy or something to the extent of a machine shop to produce robots or repair found ones.
