Final perk on tree question

Post » Mon Oct 10, 2011 4:15 am

On the perk trees, some have end points which are independent from one another. So for these we will need to get each of the perks in the branch we want to get the top perk for.
In some however, it looks as though here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6dKnv3WdU at 4:21, there are some with common points in the tree.

So my question is, do we need to get both perks lower than the one we are aiming for that feed into it, or can we leave one side of the perk tree and climb the other?

I don't mean, can we skip perks - clearly not!
What I mean is: If there is a right-hand branch and a left-hand branch which later meet in a common perk (as can be seen in two-handed), do we need to get all the perks in the right-hand and left-hand branches before getting the higher perk common to both branches? Or can we ignore one of the sides?

Do we know the answer to this?

Judging from the feedback from some folks who have played it there are prerequisite perks you must take.... wich is complete [censored]. You should be able to cherry pick whatever you want based on how good your skill is.

I hope we don't have to take both the right- and left-trees to get the mutual perks.

Well it only makes sense that you can choose a side else it defies the whole purpose of making branches in the first place.

I do like the fact that there are some requisites else one could just pick all the top (and I assume more powerful) perks.

Nah i doubt that, it will require some perks but not ALL of them.

Officially, no, we don't know the answer.
Common sense dictates though that if perk A and perk B both lead to perk C, by having EITHER Perk A or B you can get perk C. This is how it works in other games where perk trees exists at least...

I hate the whole perk system. It's completely counterintuitive to the skill system. But yeah your probably right the prerequisite allows for branching progression. Oh well. I usually played a jack-of-all trades. If it is static progression Bethesda screwed the pooch again.

Spoken by someone with absolutely no familiarity regarding talent-tree mechanics.

That's the point of the branches; you only need to choose one.

I think you only have to go one path to get the end perk.

For example, there are three different paths in the shield perk tree, however you don't have to take all 3, only one and then get the final perk.

I like to think of smithing as a good example, mainly because you wouldn't need light and heavy armors.

I've also heard you only need to take a single rank in a ranked perk to proceed to the next perk in the tree.

If BGS had wanted us to cherry-pick perks, then we wouldn't have perk trees at all, just a perk list.

Yes, it was so much more fun when the game was a joke instead of actually being challenging.
