So finally able to get back into Morrowind...

After having Morrowind (with the overhaul) installed for a while now and not being able to play, I finally hopped back into the game.

I was instantly awash in the memory of the booming theme music during the intro/character creation.

Thanks to the improvements of the Overhaul, Seyda Neen went from a dank little squat to a small swamp town teaming with vegetation and the sounds of wildlife. It's like looking at the game through new eyes (and, uh...ears?)

I can now see why Morrowind would be difficult for a new person to get into. The combat / inventory / dialogue system is very clunky, with the combat being frustrating at times. I am not used to missing attacks, failing spells, failing to make potions, etc. I'm in for a long journey, haha.

It really is amazing how simplified Skyrim feels in comparison.

Since I'm not far removed from Seyda Neen, I wanted to ask about my character roll.

I'm a Dunmer born under the Atronach Sign.

I was going for a character similar to what I had in Skyrim. I used only (after becoming self-sustaining) bound weapons (swords and bow) for physical combat, conjuring assistance when needed. Sprinkle in some thieving and acrobatic abilites for flair. My question is: Since we only have so many Major/Minor skills, is it possible to really develop a Misc. skill?

For example, I want to utilize some alchemy, but it is currently at 6. What are some tips for levelling this skill relatively naturally (outside of grinding)? Also, my Restoration is at 5, meaning I fail most spells I try to cast. Thoughts?

Training. It will be cheap, considering your low skill levels. Increasing your governing attributes would also be the best thing to do.

Low skills are really hard to raise, since your chance of doing a successful action with them is low, but only successful actions raise it. Training is definitely the best way to increase them early on. By the time they reach 30 or so you should be able to raise them through use.
