Finally --- finally --- finally someone gave us decent maps

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2016 3:34 am

This morning I installed the new color map mod and it is FANTASTIC.

BEST MOD EVER

Gets rid of the gawddamned one color Pip Boy map and gives us color maps and ALSO makes using security stations black and white instead of green on black.

Also when you zoom the map into the Local Map it is in BLACK AND WHITE and you can actually see things on it.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful

Most excellent work, good on you.

I've seen the mod but I'm still waiting for the official mod kit to come out before adding mods to my game. I really don't like having to edit my .ini file to get them to work right now.

This one is worth it --- in my not so humble opinion :)

I don't think there is any guarantee that they will EVER put out the modder kit.

They may or they may not ... who knows?

Don't play PC, but the Prima online maps are fantastic.
Would you happen to know if they are comparable?

I'm fine with the colors as they are. My question is: Can I zoom out enough to see the entire map without having to scroll around on it? If so, that might make it worth it to me.

I'm not sure how much I like the idea of power armor and bobbleheads being marked on it though. That kind of takes away all of the thrill of actually finding them.

I use the map at fallout4map.com, and it's fantastic. You can use it as something of a location checklist to mark things off as you find them.

May or may not? They're definitely releasing the modding tools. This isn't speculation...it's a fact that it is definitely going to occur.

Thanks for the link to the fallout4map site. I will check that out.

When zoomed in you can't see the entire maps but you CAN see more than with the original maps. You can scroll it further.

On a very smallish site you < might > be able to see the whole thing.

I've only been in a very large multi-level building since I put it in so I can't say for sure about small places.

The local map is basically irrelevant to me since I never use it anyway. Showing power armor and bobbleheads, along with not zooming out far enough to see the whole map at once tells me that this mod isn't for me. I see more cons than pros personally.

I'm glad you're enjoying it though. I'm sure others will as well.

I use local just to locate non-landmark instance doorways. Which works fine as it is.

And I've never had trouble with the regular pipboy world map (unlike the Skyrim one, with it's cloudbanks and blurry textures). So, yeah....

edit: but that's the great thing about mods - everyone can tweak the game to match their particular issues & interests. :)

I can't say that I've ever had any troubles with the regular map. The only thing I wish I could do is zoom out enough to view the whole map without having to scroll around. This is a very minor complaint though.

I never use the local map, but that's not due to disliking it or anything like that. I just honestly never really feel a need to use it. It never even really occurs to me to look at it in the first place.

I use this mod, and just to clarify, it has 3 different type maps.

1) P.Armor, VaultBoy and FastTravel Locations

2) FastTravel Locations Only

3) Vanilla
