Finally, FOS 1.2 Update!

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 6:36 pm

I get your point, and I agree it wasn't ideal, it just didn't seem like anyone stopped to think that there might be a reason for it. It was also the way a lot of these post were worded that made me feel it was disrespectful to a company who is at least trying to cater to us in some fashion.

Edit. I'm not calling you on your posts. I'm just talking in general.

PSS, Let's not forget the fastest way to level your dwellers is to send them out to the wasteland. There are objective that are to have X amount of Dwellers out in the wasteland for X amount of hours also. How long does it take now to get 20 Dwellers out for 18hours, 24 hours? A minimum of 2 days to complete 1 objective is ludicrous.

There's a new legendary dweller: Piper

There's also the mysterious stranger. If you find and click on him you get caps.

And some new costumes.

I honestly hope they are working on removing the Wasteland limit. If they had a software development reason for putting it in hopefully they are working quickly to resolve the issue.

I like a lot of your other ideas as well! Would be great to have a mass selling button for all common items. The list sorting feature seems like it would be easy enough to implement so might as well throw it in even though its not a huge deal. Revived dwellers not going on coffee break would be nice!! The kill button is a bit iffy since people could accidently click it. Even if it takes a second click to confirm it I'm not sure that I'd support it. If they remove the wasteland limit you can just throw them out there to die or put them in their own "special" room that you rush until it kills them.

Where does it say there is an explorer cap? Just read the release notes in the App Store and didn't see anything regarding this.

That's another odd thing. They don't even mention it in the release notes but it is definitely there. Might have been a last minute thing?

In my first shelter I had 22 dwellers exploring the Wasteland. After installing the patch, when I select any of them - game freezes. Only hard reset helps.

In other shelter I have 12 full-S.P.E.C.I.A.L. dwellers in Wasteland, and everything works fine.

As I understand, I am not the one. Please, tell me, if there is some resolution of this problem!

Does anyone test this cloud saves feature? I Really don't want to lose me shelters =)

And - my wife and my brother was not able even to start a game with 29 and 35 explorers, and nothing changed after applying the patch. I am happy about the new gold dweller and 5 free lunchboxes, but it's not what I expected from this patch.

I have come to the realization that I must not be in the target market for this game (nor Fallout 4 since this game is basically an ad for it.)

Because Vault-Tec (Bethesda) has NOT listened. And, continually make changes to the game that takes all the enjoyment away from it. Instead of adding quality of life improvements that we the players have suggested.

If this is how I'm going to be treated, I think I am going to pass on spending my money on Fallout 4. Bethesda doesn't have a good reputation when it comes to bug free games, so why should I give them my hard earned money for a buggy game. Then, when they finally get around to fixing some of the bugs they will remove the content I enjoy.

Glad to see the game getting updated and cloud storage being added. I'm installing the update now and really hoping I don't lose my vault like so many other people have had happen to them. The new survival more sounds fun... guess this gives me a reason to start a 2nd vault.

The 10 explorer limit is rough. I'm sure there is a good reason for it (maybe too many dwellers in the wasteland is what has been causing a lot of the current crashing/corruption issues). I've had 15-20 dwellers out at once with no issues and I still have less than 100 total population. Can't imagine having 200 dwellers and only being able to send out 10. absolutely ridiculous. I will have 23 dwellers with max stats ready to go out tomorrow. was planning to send them all out at once but I guess that isn't happening now. Really going to have to rethink my strategy before I do any more breading.

There is a new and REALLY STUPID limit of 10 dwellers in the wasteland at one time. Given that exploring the wasteland rarely gives good items even at the NGD event this is incredibly frustrating. This game is getting to be more and more about cracking open lunchboxes to get ANYTHING useful at all.

I agree completely. I had 46 Dwellers out and any time I try to "collect" or bring a Dweller back in the game freezes up. I have 46 people that are stuck outside the vault.

Well, Developers can't make perfect things 100% always... At least they are showing us that they are updating the game. I'm sure that now they will take another approach after the feedback community is giving since yesterday.

If you guys stop to think about it, they have added some Halloween content, and they have actually listened to players' claims about being possible to gather loot from Raider invasions.

They are doing 50 - 50%, 50% for basic new content, and 50% for fixing "old" stuff. As always, like on any another development company, Vault-Tec math does never matches 100%, there's always 90% of behind the scenes fixes and some percentage on tweaking something we did not think that well, but we have to go back and fix it so do not consider that it should have been a standard feature.

It's Bethesda. Their track record is as spotless as a WWI minefield.

It's been over two months.

The old bugs are still there, with a bunch of new ones added into the mix.

The only "active" part of playing the game (exploration) is totally gimped.

We can loot raiders. Cool, more caps. That'll add to our 999.999 account.

Sure, we got some (unneccesary) added content.

But the only important part of the update was the cloud save.

But the cloud is irrelevant, when the game is still buggy as hell.

These clowns need to get their priorities straight.

And who is their PR manager? What bright idea is it to keep their customers in the dark for months on end?

Well, for me it's a good content, since i don't have 999,999 caps, and i'm playing the game very casually instead of finishing it in just 1 day or 2 (less than a week), as many players usually do.

Oh, so there was an update??? Good to know, since my phone did not tell me anything about installing an update to the game :P

I thought i was going crazy for like half an hour.

I am sure there is a new background music that wasn't there before. or its just me who's hearing it? :)

Also i guess they changed the "enter vault XX" text a bit. How important.

I' d like to have a question about save files. I still want to backup manually. But now thre are two "vaultx" files, a.sav and a .sav.bkp. Which one should i copy? Both?

(It's important for me since i like to experiment with my vaults and in case i screw up i'd like to return to an earlier stage.)

Dont misunderstand, i am happy about the cloud save.

About the explorer limit, i doesnt bother me, because it usually got very laggy if i had a lot of people outside, but i agree adding it was a very nasty choice.

It's not really an upgrade and totally pointless,.. unless it is for you to buy more lunchboxes. Which is. It is totally for buying more lunchboxes.

And buying those damn boxes is not fun at all. Espacially that they possibly lack content, and i already had a regrettable rant about that.

BTW i expected that much. That if there ever will be an update, they'll put in some feature that tries to force us to buy more boxes.

Anyway, i really dont want to whine, because even this is more than expected. They did listen, there is a cloud save feature now, and lootable raiders (i like it).

Most appreciated.

Not bad.

Big thanks from Android user.

At quick glance, translation is correct. Used font is too wide. Better to use thinner one. Or at least to fix spacing between letters.

You mean - limit of explorers? No, thanks.

P.S.: After update, one of my vaults fails to load - CTD. T-51b - I will miss you...

I had the same problem, before patch in one of my vaults 22 dwellers were exploring wasteland, and after patch game completely freezes when select one of them. I solved this problem: I hard-resetted my 5s, uninstalled app, installed it again, loaded vault from cloud, played a bit (you'll have an anouncmant, what copy of vault you want to save, local one with current time, or cloud one with old date and time - of course save current local game), and then I selected one of the dwellers, who is exploring less time than others. Screen with info about this dweller opened, game thinks for 1-2 minutes - and finally I had received acess to all my dwellers in the wasteland.

I'm also seeing a message on some explorers, "That's as much as I can carry. I Better head back and show the Overseer what I found." This explorer has 100 items exactly. I haven't found any dead explorers today to revive and recall today, Not sure what effect it will have on loot. I do have 7 explorers at 98 hours who still haven't hit this. Some will dies soon, will have to see what they look like in the morning

First off, "the load screen crashing bug" cannot be fixed with any patch. Reason is the crash is caused by your savegame getting corrupted and the data has vaporized into cyberspace. Your save is 0kb in size. If you didn't back it up manually, or back your whole device up prior the crashes started occurring, it is gone, there is no way to make it reappear. So enough of that, just start a new vault, it should be safe now if you enable cloud save.

Second this patch is clearly geared towards lunch box sales with a two-pronged approach. Since most lunchboxes are sold in the early days of gaming, it is more important for the developer to smooth that side of the game to ensure the player stays with the product past the peak ARPU point. I'm just making an educated quess here, but that point can't be too many days played with FoS, given the monotonous game play past 100 dwellers and the lack of endgame. The other prong is clearly targeting the gotta-have-them-all players, with further limitting the availability of rares and legendaries. The game now also runs better on lackluster devices to boot, further improving the chanses new player stays with the game and buys boxes.

Sadly we, who have been hunting those few missing items via exploring and completing the odd luncbox objective, are undesirables in the eyes of the developers. Not because we choose to, but because the incentives to produce revenue are completely missing. Right now all we generate is bad press, and they would rather see us go away.

I will carry on, hurting from the explorer cap (had 84 on weekly rotation) and likely fade away silently never reaching the 100% items goal I had as my self-fabricated endgame.
