I finally found my skyrim favourite build.

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:07 pm

I wanna start off saying I almost always play a mage type character and my main also started out as a conjurer but when I got twin souls and my deadra lords basicly took everything apart gameplay quickly became boring. Then I quit my conjuration skill and my two-hand skill and went for a shield / weapon combo with no magic involved.

Gameplay was so much better and way more entertaining, I never had so much fun in an elder scrolls game. ( except maybe using jump spells in morrowind )

Anyway my point that I really didnt expect this build to be all that fun, but there is so many functions in the block table when you are using a shield.

Sneaking/illusion = to easy
Bow = slowmotion dosnt help much when your arrows are slow too. STUPID ARROWS !? :brokencomputer:
Twohanded = way to slow I always end up killing myself because my hammerswing is so slow that I cant get away to heal myself.
2 weapons = quickslot system is fubar.
Destruction = impact perks is a 100% knockdown even on dragons again too easy.
Conjuration = becomes to easy after twin souls.

Right now I am walking around with elemental fury with no enchanted weapon to get extra attacks in. Now I am not saying that shield / sword combo isnt also powerful I was level 50 when I started the build with 30 in block / one-handed no perks which made dragons pretty fun fighting up close.

So whats your preferred fighting style.

Why didn't you just reroll instead of starting sword and board at level 50? Not that there is anything wrong with your style, I am just curious ...

Because as I stated it provided me with additional challenge. Draghr deathlords and elder dragons are alot fun to fight when you have to time your attacks perfect to not get killed.

I was just fighting 3 draghr deathlords which took me about 5 minutes.

I prefer a Two-Handed/Heavy Armor Juggernaut with self-crafted gear and restoration skills for emergency situations. Why you ask?

I'm enjoying using 1-handed + spell, with the help of a few minions. If it looks like its going to get too easy later with conjuration I may stop advancing the perks for it. I have found playing like this really fun - you have the diversity of switching out any spell and still having a close-quaters defense mechanism to rely on, as well as supplementry shields and magical resistance shield. Lot of fun

i really like to put at least one perk point into the slow motion, slowing it all down gives you a better opportunity to get your angle right and fire in the right place.

Spellbreaker shield and Skyforge Steel sword. No enchantments, no healing spells/potions (or any other) until the battle is over. It's so satisfying to come out the victor in that situation, especially if you only have a sliver of health left. You know you beat them out of skill alone.

Dual-wield daggers or swords, sneak/bow for my first char, light armor (Nightinggale).

Second uses lightning in his left, axe in his right, heavy armor. Blast, close, whack. He's an orc, they're not complicated. ;)

I recently found my main character, and perfect build; after creating about 20 characters since I got the game. Illusion makes everything better.

bow is intended for the ranger type
so stealth and manoeuvrability are required
illusion help (mufle)

isnt there another perk that increase shooting speed (quick draw or something...)
and stagger keeps them at bay
anyway the slow motion help you when they are moving fast, your aim is better
also you need a lot of stamina

i use daedric war axe and sword dual wield, they each have 260+ dmg and i use them with all 3 words elemental fury, i take out ancient drags in 3 seconds, seeing how i deal about 1.3k dmg a 2nd with the 4 hit combo power attack

I had a lot of fun playing a death knight(Necromancer), letting my zombies and followers kill my enemies while i just sat behind rubbing my hands together and laughing evilly. That took me to level 45-50, but like anything, I eventually got bored. I have really taken to the one handed/shield style recently though, it makes fighting MUCH more tactical. As a dual wielding character i just run up and spam attacks and they die, by reducing my damage a bit I make it much more fun to me. So yes, I agree with you.

I enjoy my stealth archer but it feels too easy, which is perfectly fine with me but I think that I might try shield and one handed. It seems cool and fun. I don't know what armor to rock though. I am probably gonna light armor it.

do you have any suggestions for playing as a necromancer? i always found it difficult because i could never find any bodies to resurrect that would be as strong or stronger than just a plain old atronach.

Honestly, being a necromancer is more about the Roleplaying than the actual power level. At lower levels, I often found that my zombies were much better at distracting my enemies while I got power attacks in without getting blocked, than actually doing damage. At higher levels this does improve to some extent, but even Thralls will never compare to a fully equipped Follower. My follower has 80% armor and 600 health and 100 damage per attack; even a draugr deathlord will be lucky to have a third of that. You can have two of them at the end, but even that doesn't help too much.

Honestly? They're great at taking out the lower level mobs while you deal with the bosses. Raise a draugr scourge and it will take out all the restless and normal draugr while you focus on the deathlord.

That's probably why I like it, really; it's more strategic that just summoning some atronachs.

I'm building up two handed and one handed at the moment. At this point (level 24) I find shield + sword the most fun. Might go axe, haven't decided yet (not that that matters).

I was thinking about going assassin too on this character but still thinking about it with all the rants about it being OP. Might do it but without the x15 perk.
My first character (sneak archer) was also fun but got bored of him at level 37.

Shield + sword + light armour and not powerleveling and abusing the system is the most fun for me so far. Challenging and exciting.
