maybe. it might also be that i have no connection to reach. i read the book after playing the game (horribly written btw)... maybe it was the feeling of "fighting for earth", but i don't really believe that.
i've never been to mombassa (and of course not to new mombassa) either (as i've never been on reach
), but the audiotapes and the mombassa streets part, where you roamed the empty streets of a deserted major city transported a much better feeling of dispair than a covy cruiser glassing something in the background.
but back to the battles: there are a couple of big battles in ODST that came rather as a suprise, since all in all the game was more sneaky than other halo games.
so propably, halo reach just couldn't live up to my expectations (the teaser trailer! OMG! i rebought an xbox for that game), but i think they should've added more battles like the defense of halsey's lab to the parts in the city.
oh, and scarabs. when defending reach against a covy invasion they should've let us take down a couple of scarabs, if not a super-mega-xxl-badass-mother-of-all-scarabs.
remember the level pillar of autumn, when the scarab shows up and emile says something like "we can't get past that". i was smiling. finally i was about to take down at least one of those and then... then that sorry sob carter rams it with his pelican. since then, i can't stand that guy anymore. good thing he died with the scarab, serves him right!
and another edit - i wish 343i would make a reach:ODST game.
