Finally had a dragon attack inside a WALLED city!

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:23 pm

:D I have been waiting ages for this epic random encounter to happen!
I entered the snowy and dark city of Windhelm, heading towards the Palace of Kings, to show the teeth of the ice wraiths to Ulfric to prove I am a true Son of Skyrim. I accidently pressed the wait button, but realised it said enemy is around. I heard this faint dark whistle, and turned around, raising my axe and shield. Nothing......
Suddenly, i hard a loud "ROOOAAWWWRRHH".
A dragon has reached Windhelm. It swooped over Windhelm, alerting everyone in the city. The guards raised their weapons and prepared for a bloody fight. The dragon turned around and blasted fire everywhere.
It was the most epic, yet hardest dragon fight i have encountered. Blood dragons are tough, and what makes them tougher is when they refuse to land on the ground and coward in the skies and roofs of the building. I thought many citizens would die indeed. Hell, even the NPCs thought they would too. Jora, a priestess (the one NPC you would think would be praying to the gods for the safety of their town), even said "I take the big one is going to win this one." That little b****!
Anyways, after a long ranged battle, the dragon landed on the ground to fight the dragonborn and the city's guards by himself. I finally killed the bastard, took its bones, shouted in glory, imaginatively spat in Jora's face, and went back to my march to Ulfric.

Btw, no one even died! Sad, i was hoping someone would get it :(

How did your first in-city dragon fight go? (If you even had one yet, i'm already level 25)

My first went like this:
Walked into solitude for the second time ever.
Dead dragon drops from the sky.
Free soul.

My first attack hit Solitude and ended up killing three Npc's, which I wasn't entirely pleased with, but was also happy I had already done most quests involving them. One was a trainer, so that was a little sad. If there is a dragon attack going on, I usually go inside an inn and hopefully wait it out. Hauling those dragon bones and scales around can be annoying if I don't plan on going home soon.

My first city dragon attack was in Whiterun. Finally killed the beast on the doorstep of Breezehome.

My first was during my very first visit to Windhelm. Finding my way round to try and keep up with the fight was a task and a half.

Yup, I have only had one encounter inside of Whiterun after 75 hours of playing.

It is a good wtf moment when it happens if you had no idea it could, I was shocked when I first heard the dragon roar and looked up to see a dragon as I was just casually walking through Whiterun.

I had one in Riften and one in Markarth (my favorite town). The Markarth one I reloaded about 15 times just to watch the fight over and over.

I am around seventy five to eighty hours and have still yet to see it, although I have seen and heard one outside of Windhelms walls.

Never had that happen to me. Had it countless times happen in Riverwood, a few times in Winterhold (mostly at the College), and one time outside of Riften. But never INSIDE a walled city.

I am not sure if this will count, but I had a Dragon encoutner when I went to the Mages guild head quarters. Sorry so tired right now, forgot the proper name. It is still considered an outer cell I guess so not a "walled city inner cell". But when that Dragon landed on top of the building and "yelled at me" it was FREAKING Awsome.

I think it depends on how your playing the game, and the quests your working on. I have fought a dragon in at least 4 different cities.
I have also had dragons flying above me in a city, but they never come close enough to attack, or they leave too quickly. I've tried re-loading a save to see if the dragon is there, and most of the time it is not. Curious why some of us are seeing more dragons than others???

Blood dragons are actually rather low-leveld compared to you (they begin at around level 15-16) but anyway, my first one happened in Solitude (I have a lot there actually). It was an Elder Dragon a little late into my first playthrough (technically 3rd, but since 5 out of my 8 characters have simply been re-makes to get things "just right") and it iced (no pun intended) four guards and one of the stall people I think. Not completely sure as I am an enemy of Solitude

I've had 4 on a level 31 character. It isn't that rare, you just have to spend enough time in a city for one to happen.

It's still pretty rare though. I spend a lot of time in cities. Infact, once or twice i had to go do something and forgot to pause the game (while outside in a city). No dragons :/

The first time it happened to me I was in Solitude. The guards swarmed around it like ants around spilled honey. After getting its health down with a bow, I decided to move in with my sword to see if I could get a finishing move. All of the sudden, the dragon's head started bobbing oddly, then I notice that a guard jumped on top of it, doing a finishing move himself!

Epic. :flamethrower:

ugh, every other time i go to windhelm some dragon has to show up and ruin it for me. And i can never get them to land within reach of my claymore...so i use my 50ish archery to whittle them down

Had some dragons attack me in Solitude(twice), College of Winterhold, and Dawnstar. The first time was at the College.
It started when I tried to fast travel to some other place, but couldn't because "enemies were nearby". That's when I raised an eyebrow. Then I lowered the map to see a red dot on my compass. After that, I looked up at that main, tall building in the college to see a blood dragon land on it and greet me with some nice, warming fire breath.

Needless to say, I was freakin' out. Even though it was cool.

I still have yet to see one attack a walled city. Hell, before this thread, I didn't even know it was possible. But on another note, it seems like a dragon attacks almost every time I fast travel to Winterhold.

Mine happened in Whiterun. Kinda annoying that they will only land on the same roof, fly in a circle, then land on that same roof over and over.

But I had one in Riverwood which was a lot of fun.
