Is there a photo of the collectible pipboy without a smartphonein it?

To be honest, I always wanted to build or buy an authentic Pip-Boy. By that, I mean one made of metal or polycarbonate with a working screen, Geiger counter, flashlight, local & world maps, and an FM radio.

Now I just have to figure out how I would even start to create one, considering I don't have much of an engineering background.

Funny that there is such a large black market of knock off products coming out of China with contract stipulations like that. Coming soon to a local shady vendor near you Arm-boys for all you game playing needs.

Seriously, cool as it looks, a Pip-Boy has got to be THE most inconvenient uncomfortable thing ever. Who the hell would strap that hunk of metal to their arm, run around with it and be expected to fight with it on? Just keep a smartphone in your pocket, 4realz.

I predict a 'consolation prize' second special edition, for those who couldn't get the pipboy or didn't want the pipboy but still would prefer a more attractive box than the standard edition.

I thought they should do more to increase their profits, they earned it after all, being the best studio bar none. I did not understand why they didnt, for their own sake and their customers.

However after reading pete hines reply i know why now. They cant make more for fallout 4s release.

Bethesda calculated how many they could sell. Then they buy this service (most likely factory in china) that molds them etc. They then sell out.

Bethesda goes back to the factory and says i know we made a deal for x months and x millions but can you do more?

Nope we are fully booked.

Go to another factory? The whole process takes a long time. Atleast way after f4 is released.

So its over. (There might be a chance if enough customers want it, that when the factory who did it, have an opening more can be made (time window long). They wont do the whole process with someone else is my guess to have more pipboys 2016 fall.

My professional job is project manager for an industrial equipment manufacturer. We outsource many components for production with sub-suppliers and we own our casting forms. We order the quantity we think we can sell and revise that quantity when required. Typically a company will design their own moulding/casting forms, or hire someone to do so, but still own those forms. And trust me, there is ALWAYS a factory ready to take your order! Pete is of course right when he says THE factory couldn't take on more, but how many others did he ask? It all comes down to the mighty $.

Pete Hines is in marketing. What he knows about production is what someone else tells him. Doesn't mean he's lying, he's just not fully informed.
