Finally playing Oblivion again with a lot of trouble :(

Hey,

Since i have my new PC i started playing Oblivion again but from that time it starts running like a bag of nuts.
If i start a new Game it just need a couple of minutes and it will crush, always at another point.

I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2(Dual Core) 6000+ with 2GB DDR2 and a Geforce 8800 GTX

Also i am using a lot of mods dunno if it could be the load order, already tried to work around there but how it looks it didn't seem to work very well.
No idea how i can copy it here though.

I used a program which sort them but it keeps crushing to desktop.

Someone Ideas?

OBMM: Import/Export --> View Load Order --> Copy and paste
Wrye Bash: Right-Click File tab --> List Mods (It copies the list for you.)

You should get the Ancient Yews + Arrius Creek patch. I think it is one of those mods' Nexus page. You need to run that load order through BOSS, if you haven't already. Also, some of those pose mod overlap. Try deactivating small mods and see if UL+DukePatrick's+DLCs+TT+UOP+Midas+Elsweyr+Robert's works. Add mods to that setup, slowly. It looks like you have extra copies of some of Duke Patrick's mod. Choose one version. Don't load the originals with the revisions with the second revisions.

I already used it with BOSS, i tried some other games now and they crush too after a few minutes, so the problem must be at another place :(

Your load order needs to be cleaned, and I am not talking about reordering. Get rid of some of the duplicate mods. Make sure the Duke Patrick's mods are compatible with what you are running. Try the setup I suggested above. Then add to that, once it is working.

Hm? which one are duplicated? The Duke Patrick mods are all different or not?

If you use a mod, then the same mod revised, you're duplicating. For example,

Duke Patricks Script Effect Silencer.esp
Duke Patricks Script Effect Silencer Rev 2.esp
Duke Patricks Script Effect Silencer Silver Edition.esp


I may be mistaken, but all three of those do the same thing.

You only want to add a ESP for the same mod if it's a patch.

I used BOSS but if he sorts them Obliion doesn't even start.

Just in case you're not doing it already, it is advisable to always use the most recent masterlist.
It's constantly updated by many contributors so they made a Google-Code repository for it.

Try using the masterlist found http://code.google.com/p/better-oblivion-sorting-software/source/browse/ and see if it makes your Oblivion starting again.
If not, you could post the BOSS-ed list which isn't working and people could help you sorting it more easily.
Especially finding the missing master which is keeping your Ob from starting after sorting, maybe because BOSS didn't recognize some files and so a master ended up loading later than a plugin requiring it, should be most easy to find by that many people hanging around here.

You'll have to sort the last files manually as BOSS doesn't recognize them. You should also post the list of unrecognized mods into the BOSS Topic so that they can get added to the masterlist. Also, do you use Wrye Bash? It's hard to tell your load order as boss sorts both active and unactive mods.

If you use Wrye bash (though it doesn't look that way, you have no bashed patch), right click the header and select list mods and copy that text (including [ codebox ] so it's more easily readable) and post it here, then one can see your Active mods & how they're merged / imported.

You need to read the readme of every single mod you add. Often you have to chose between several esps as they give different versions of the mod. For example xulRollingHills_EV.esp adds the Unique Landscapes Rolling Hills to your game, while xulRollingHills_EV_withoutWheat.esp adds the same Rolling Hills, just without wheat. You have activated both, which could cause lots of problems.

Also, if you're going to use that many mods, you should use the bashed patch in Wrye Bash. http://wryemusings.com/Wrye%20Bash.html#BashedPatches is everything you need to know about that. I recommend starting with adding one or two mods, rebuilding the bashed patch, launching the game, doing a quick check that they work, saving, then addin a couple more mods and so on til you have them all activated.

And again, read all the readmes. Setting up a big modlist is a lot of work...

We can't help you if you won't help yourself. Actually take the time to look through the BOSS log yourself and sort out anything you see rather than asking others to do everything for you.

Now don't get confused by the BOSS list, people. Just because plugins are listed in there doesn't mean they're active! It's my fault for suggesting to post this instead of the BOSS-ed "load order". BOSS will show you every plugin in the data folder, regardless of if it's activated or not.
I agree, posting the load order from Wrye Bash would be the best step, as it will also tell us about troubles it found itself, "virtually active" plugins merged into the bashed patch (if any), and so on.

Now what about the things Corepc mentioned, JazzJR? Getting rid of "missing master" situations is the most obvious way to solve "game not starting" issues.

I'm just throwing this out there, but when you use BOSS, are you using the .bat file? Because thats the one you're supposed to use. I know when it first came out I kept using the .exe file and couldn't figure out why my load order wasn't changing.

Also, are you using the 4GB RAM patch? Thats definitely something you should be using.

First i changed it by some Tutorials and then i used BOSS but it didn't changed anything at the error and ctd.
I will try the 4GB Patch.

Edit:
I just saw that there is no 4GB RAM Patch for Windows XP. At least no stable one.

The 4GB patch allows Oblivion to use more memory. If the game is eating up over 1.8Gb of memory in a few minutes, you have other problems. The patch is not going to help. I mean, before this error appeared, did you add, update or remove any mods? Please, try the clean boot.


Edit: Your load order looks odd. Run BOSS on it again. Here is an LOTemplate to help place the unknowns: http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=load_order#LOTemplate <-- If you need extra help placing them, let me know. Just give me a quick description of each plugin.

Regenerate the Oblivion.ini too - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=know_how_to#RegenerateTheOblivion.ini
Then patch up the INI with these - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=oblivion_ini_tweaks

Well i applied the 4GB RAM Patch now and it worked. Now i got the message if i quit the game.

What message? What is your page file when you crash? Leave the task manager open as you play, and check it after quitting. Oblivion should not be eating up enough memory to crash within a few minutes.
